I didn’t miss anything - that’s what I was referencing. 12% isn’t indicative of a “game changing” and “mind blowing” feature - 88% of people who own a Tesla (so not generally of car drivers) don’t think its worth the money. [EDIT - the 1.1 million is total users and mostly those who purchased it when the promises were more believable, not recent subscribers - your 30% figure is, I assume, because 30% of the 1.1 million are subscribers. That’s remarkably worse. People who purchased it long ago were just duped . . .]You must have missed the earnings call last a few weeks back. Tesla is now publishing their FSD figures. There are currently "1.1 million" active subscribers to Tesla's FSD which represents about 12% of all their cars on the road (10million).
I forgot the breakdown numbers for people that purchased it out right but the amount of people paying $99 month to month is quite substantial, I remember it working out to about $350 million dollars a year in revenue. Don't forget FSD is most optimal on the latest hw4 hardware. I believe they uptake rate for newer cars is around 30%.
And this is people paying for the "supervised" version. When it's "unsupervised" like the current robotaxis that are on the road, imagine how many people will be paying then.
The moment your Tesla (unsupervised) can take your kids to and from their part-time jobs, little league, friends houses, the mall, take Grandma to her doctor appointment ect....all instead of you being a full-time taxi driver, there are millions of parents who will be begging Tesla to take their money.
There are no unsupervised Robotaxis. First, there are barely any robotaxis at all (300 may be the number of cars, but it surely isn’t the number of actively in service cars). Second, they all have safety drivers (San Fran) or safety passengers (Austin). The “unsupervised” ones you are referring to were announced by musk just prior to the earnings call and were followed by chase cars (To supervise them). They no longer exist . . . At least no one can find one. This is the same thing as the driverless delivery - did it once, filmed it, made a big deal out of it, never did it again.Snip

(Fellow pedant)
Did anyone here say human drivers never do that or make other driving mistakes? It's a good thing that human drivers NEVER do this. It's only a self driving problem. I'm sure this person is a much better driver than FSD.

I watched the video. The person behind the wheel interrupted FSD, which is why IT DIDN'T!!BUT DIDN'T!! So in other words doing exactly as it's intended to do.
Fellow meatbag driver. Most of the mistakes humans make are because they aren't paying attention to a specific thing that they should be. A computer that can see in every direction at all times should make exactly zero of those mistakes.Fewer than the number of deaths caused by meatbag drivers, which we've seen is clearly the case. It's already a win that is only getting better.
