Hmmmmmm yes I would and only cause it will probably go up in price later. Just like tesla’s, started at $8k and then landed somewhere at $12k or now is only an annual subscription, not sure. But I rather pay once and done. IMO

Nope. Not unless you are going to give me real value from a system that I don't have to babysit 100% of the time, and gives us meaningful features like PtP/eyes off/all roads/etc. Keeping in mind that current gen2 will never get those truly meaningful features.

Mind you, if you are going to charge me for said features then they'd better be damn good out of the box. None of this "s00n-ish" crap where I need to be patient as you get your act together. That's not how paid features work.

I subscribe to Tesla FSD (and really like it), but definitely not paying for the Rivian's system in its current state. I try to use UHF all the time, but the number of interventions it takes to keep it driving safely when not on a freeway is astounding. I think they should have kept it in development for a bit longer before releasing, and it certainly isn't ready to be a paid add on.

I couldn't agree more. Off the highway I feel much more at risk driving with it on vs normal driving

I love my R1T, but holy crap I find this email annoying.

Rivian R1T R1S Autonomy+ Poll: Will you be buying / subscribing to it? 1772804930780-af

Like it is some massive improvement over adaptive cruise with lane centering.

What does UHF actually get you? You can take your hands off the wheel for $50/month?

(Rivian is my wife's ride, not mine)

Right now, the ability to use the hands-off driving assist pretty much anywhere. But you still need to control the vehicle for lights if you're the first to arrive, and stop signs, sharp curves like in roundabouts, etc.. Eventually it's going to do full end-to-end hands off driving where you still need to pay attention.

IMO Rivian hasn't really said that personal L4 is going to be included under the autonomy+ subscription/purchase, but no-one with a Rivian today is going to get that, so kind of a moot point.

Autonomy+ starting to charge on April 4, seems like a good time to post a poll. If you are a Gen 2 owner, will you be buying or subscribing?
A dilemma. Still on the fence if i should buy just because I intend to keep my G2 longer. What the auto+ offers now is hardly enough for $50/month for me. I will also have to bet that there are more features worth paying for in the near future.

My Gen 1 does all this + will slow down/stop for lights and signs with my Comma Ai Four installed. I have no reason to upgrade to a new R1 or downgrade (size wise) to an R2
Honest question. How to you keep an expensive looking contraption affixed to your windshield from getting stolen?

With previous cars, I've had my window smashed for much less.

Dumb question - does this mean current Gen2 is not hardware capable of PtP? I’ve watched my Model Y go from wobbling around in freeways and getting confused on back roads to error-free PtP, pulling over for an ambulance, and picking out a parking spot. And it doesn’t have the Rivian’s sensors, thanks to Elon’s camera fixation.

Gen2 is supposed to get supervised point to point, per Autonomy Day.

I'm planning to let the free trial lapse and see if I miss it. I've been using it very happily on highways but if all I lose is lane changing then I probably won't care. When I'm not on the freeway I'm in the city or windy back roads and it doesn't work in either of those places and I probably wouldn't ever use it there anyway.

I think the only reason I might buy it would be if I was 100% assured that I would get all future updates including point to point and hopefully someday the ability to follow traffic signs/signals included in this price. But I don't trust that they won't be like other companies and just rebrand the updated product and make us pay extra for it.
