Reservation made 4/2019 for the Maxpack. By August 2023 my latest delivery date was 1st Quarter 2024. My 2010 diesel Super Duty crew cab F250 had aged 4 years more already, losing value, and the R1T I had originally configured was no longer being sold with most of the early options. I was already on my second EV car, a new 2023, having put 70k miles on my 2018 EV, and the 2nd NEMA 14-50 plug I'd installed in 2018 for the truck was still waiting. I even had one of my bikes painted in January 2022 to match my reserved Rivian.
At the end of August I finally had a chance to try a Rivian. Less than a mile down the road I was sold. I wasn't going to wait anymore. I ditched the Maxpack idea and bought a large battery quad from the store. The second I hit the purchase button I was notified the truck would be available in 6 days. Rivian was happy to take my 2010 F250 in trade, and 6 days later I was driving home in my new R1T.
Had I known then what I know now- that the max pack was going to be pushed out year after year after year- I would have just bought the large pack 4 years prior. Still, I am happy that we are finally a complete EV household, with solar to provide the electricity to keep our EVs juiced up.
My Rivian Blue Gazelle ebike finally has the matching truck to carry it around to the rides. So if you see a Rivian Blue R1T with a Rivian Blue ebike on the back hitch rack, blink your lights to say hello!
