Hi. New R1T on the way. Who should I use to install my Rivian EV charger in the garage? Northside 60618 here. Any providers you recommend? got one quote for $4000 which is insane considering the conduit is in place.

If you are putting in a 60amp breaker and need 6awg wire the existing conduit probably won't be big enough for the current wiring and this additional. Would need at least 3/4" conduit. It's also hard to judge not knowing if there are any changes needed in your panel and what the distance is from the panel to where the charger is going. Even if the conduit is there 6awg wire is expensive. I would also suggest adding a whole house surge protector. My house is not wired the best and definitely was getting major flickers in some rooms whenever the charger was plugged in but gone once I added the surge protector. Before you ask, my panel is in the garage and I mounted the charger 2 ft from it so was a simple install I did myself.

I have a detached garage. The guys I used dug a trench, pulled out the old conduit, buried the new, installed a 60amp sub panel, and hardwired the charger. I paid them $2700, summer of '23. DM me if you'd like their info.

I used Kapital Electric and was happy with their work. I paid in the $2000s. They and their website claim the install more EV chargers than anyone in Chicagoland. They certainly knew a ton about Rivians and Rivian chargers when they did mine, and that was late 2022….when there weren’t that many Rivians driving around Chicago. My R1S was one of first 100 delivered in Midwest according to Rivian when I took delivery. I’d recommend Kapital.
