Good afternoon everyone!

Joined the forum today (don't have a Rivian yet, looking to hopefully buy a Quad R1S with NACS --hopefully) but electrified since 2016.

I have been surfing this board anonymously for over a year now on a daily basis, but was hoping to get to meet some other fellow enthusiasts in NJ and chat about the car and the adventures :)

I did not see any upcoming activities planned in NJ, hoping to trigger some interest in car chat in-person over coffee ...

Be safe and well!

Just joined, not sure if this is where to ask a question. Want to lease an R1T. Does anyone know why there is no leasing in MN? Rivian won’t say why, if it is planned, if itā€˜s in the works, or anything. I have checked with the MN DVS, they have had no application from Rivians.

Have to admit that I wasn't aware that Rivian didnt do leasing deals in MN, but the reasons for this limitation are not explicitly detailed by Rivian from what I can see. However, a search of discussion forum posts shows that state-specific financial regulations and dealership laws may play a role. For instance, some states have restrictions on direct vehicle sales by manufacturers, which can complicate leasing arrangements. Rivian’s need to establish appropriate service centers or facilities that comply with local zoning and regulatory requirements might influence their ability to offer leasing in certain regions at this time.

Thanks for the info. Wondering why Rivian can’t just tell me that.

It is related to something in the state laws. Rivian technically can’t even sell vehicles in MN. When you purchase one, the purchase is in Illinois and then transferred somehow to MN afterward. Just like you can’t test drive one at the service center because Rivian isn’t licensed as a show room. In the Twin Cities, you meet them at a coffee shop for the demo drive. They get creative with legal workarounds.

That’s why when i purchased, i had to take delivery down the street at a parking lot. It was unusual, but still the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

@kanundrum QQ for you sir. I did sign up to rivian clubs and I did fill in the form for https://newjersey.rivianclubs.org/ . Almost a month and I have not heard anything in email. Wondering if thats normal or i have to submit to the form on their website one more time. Just completed the 8 steps for the car with an unofficial delivery date on 8/29 from Malvern, so i am too excited to meet other owners soon and absorb collective wisdom.
