My wife and I are going to take a drive on Sunday from Spokane and go up to a place neither of us have been - Stensgar Mountain, to the northwest of town.

Additionally, if anyone has driven this loop before, any advice or things to look out for? Everything I can see seems to be more than do-able on road tires...

Here's a Google Maps route leaving from Northtown Mall (a good place to meet up, I think) to the peak/viewpoint on the mountain:

It's a bit under two hours of driving, so I figure leaving mid-morning (sometime before 10am) would give plenty of time to get up there & get back at a reasonable time....

So are you planning on the loop from OnX? with maybe the leg up to Keystone Mine? Back on 395 in Addy or close the OnX loop back to Valley?

Just the route in the Google link I shared. After looking more, the whole loop is 95 miles, and onX says it would take about six hours just to do that alone. Bit long of a trip for such short notice, I think.

The Google Maps route I shared goes to the viewpoint/summit of Stensgar Mtn anyway, so it's not like there's a higher viewpoint on the trail to check out.

Sounds interesting... but it is my wife's birthday today and she requested we Ride the Hiawatha on Sunday so already committed. I'd welcome a trip report afterwards on whether it was worth the drive.
