    Hmmm. Difficult. Playing it at half speed, every time the noise occurs there's more snow spray seen. There's nothing loose on the chains to be hitting ground and the inner rim? Do the 'chains' stretch? is it just them snapping back into space?

    Don't buy autosocks, unless you're literally buying something for legal requirements. R1T works well in snow, it's only ice that you will need additional traction. Autosocks don't provide that.
