The Rivian Service Center was able to reset the communication module and reuse it. It took a few days for them to figure it out, including sending the data to Rivian engineering for guidance.

My issue was the same as the original poster's, but I also couldn't drive without it putting itself back in park. It also wouldn't hard-reset until after the soft-reset, which was odd.

I just had this issue today and was able to get it back into a normal state after talking with Rivian. I had soft reset it, followed by a hard reset (nether fixed it), and then they had me clear the error state by: Turning off gear guard in the app (so it doesn't keep the vehicle awake) Logging...
