  1. Severe Issues with R1S

Are you sure the engine failed?
  2. Maintenance Cost

I agree with others that the price ain’t bad. I however do my rotations for free at LeSchwab down the road. I didn’t buy my current set of tires from them but will be buying the next set there. truck currently at 63k miles
  3. 2026 Quad-Motor R1S / R1T Officially Revealed (Specs & Price)

I echo most comments - not enough to warrant an upgrade from my Gen 1 quad. I'd personally only use most of those features maybe 5 times a year. Perhaps that was the goal - satisfy the very niche market of those that want it. But not sure why the need to burn the cash for a niche product...
  4. My first review: traded in Tesla Model X P100D for 2025 R1S Tri Motor

Congrats on the Rivian. Used to have a Model S, and I considered the X at the time I got the Rivian. Almost 2.5yrs here as well, still very happy with my R1T Quad. I think I prefer the Tesla infotainment, but the Rivian works perfectly fine (except for Cast - I might be the only one that...
  5. After February update tailgate is opening on its own.

Same here but mine started late last year. I initially falsely assumed software issue. I later realized it could only be the release button itself. Just had it checked out by Rivian. They also said it was the release button. Replaced under warranty. No issues so far.
  6. Tail gate latch fail

The unlatch button has failed on mine. It keeps unlatching itself every other time when the truck unlocks upon approach. Tailgate doesn’t fall open, but it is unlatched and this deactivates a bunch of sensors, etc. Going in for a fix.
  7. Brake Pad Replacement DIY for Rivian R1

I found no info on the OEMs, which was the main reason for my post. Someone also mentioned - all these pads are DOT approved. I drive quite a lot (almost 30k miles/year) and these pads fimy daily use. I don’t track or do extreme off roading etc. I own a motorcycle but I don’t pop wheelies on...
  8. Brake Pad Replacement DIY for Rivian R1

Yeah I get that a lot. The parking brake sticks to the rotors after you’ve driven through rain and parked the vehicle for some time. The “parking brake” only uses the rear rotors though. Since I haven’t changed the rears, I still get it. Used to also get it when I had my model S and it was...
  9. Brake Pad Replacement DIY for Rivian R1

This was on by default and I had never toggled it off. I believe others on this thread also had it left ON
  10. Brake Pad Replacement DIY for Rivian R1

I did the bedding yesterday. They feel much better.
  11. Brake Pad Replacement DIY for Rivian R1

Agree, I think it’s just plain uneven. As I mentioned in my OP, it’s a little questionable that the inner pads also wouldn’t go in with the wear indicators. This means the pads have to be regularly inspected, and the fact that they are on the inside, means wheels need to come off. Appreciate...
  12. Brake Pad Replacement DIY for Rivian R1

I heard this before, I think you’re right. I should probably quit using the mallet
  13. Brake Pad Replacement DIY for Rivian R1

Thank you - i did that this morning on my way back from the gym. Sunday morning at 7am on a side road seems perfect for this! Brakes definitely grippier now, so that previous gunk buildup was def affecting performance. I also had high regen, which uses friction brakes (i believe). There is a...
