  1. Tire Swap to 22" Michelin Defender LT275/50r22

Well, I've had three sets of Pirelli all seasons and have not detected any change in range between new and up to 35,000 miles. And I check very carefully. I don't much care if they eventually get better efficiency, I want better efficiency all the time....
  2. Tire Swap to 22" Michelin Defender LT275/50r22

Tell me more about how the satisfaction guarantee and return worked for you. I recently switched to the Defender tires and am also unhappy with the big range loss (10% to 15% running at 60 psi). I got mine at discount tire. i would go back to Pirelli, I’ve gotten 35k out of several sets.
  3. Pirelli Scorpion All Weather Zero HL – Steel Belt Slip at 24k Miles, Looking for Alternatives

I've gotten 35k out of 3 sets of Pirelli all seasons. Just replaced tires again at 100,000 miles and went with Michelin 22" Defenders. ~10% loss of range (running at 55-60 psi). Was thinking about Hankook also but like previous poster I got tired of waiting for them to come back into stock...
  4. R2 Heat Pump? Coming? Standard? Option?

A heat pump should be more efficient but myself and others have not found any meaningful improvement with the Rivian implementation of it.
  5. R2 Heat Pump? Coming? Standard? Option?

A heat pump might not be that big of deal. Gen 1 R1T did not have it, Gen 2 does. I’ve had both and have kept VERY careful track of my efficiency while driving around MN and WI. I have found little evidence of a benefit.
  6. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

I did it last spring. It's a very easy drive in a Rivian, even with all season tires. I did it "bottom to up" That is the direction I would recommend. Starting in Moab area and finishing in Canyonlands NP. Dead Horse State Park is right next to Canyonlands. The rim hike at Dead Horse SP...
  7. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

We happened to see a preproduction R2 on that road!
  8. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

No rock sliders. Not much risk in that regard. I did pick up some minor scratches, maybe from trail side brush or from out tent hardware??? we did the Onion River Road in Moab. Easy driving but very scenic.

  10. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

I remember reading your post and it gave me confidence I could do it to. Good to know it can be done on tires like the Defenders.
  11. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

Thanks for the kind words. For us, the key enabler for this trip was the level 2 charging at Cliff Dwellers Resort in Marble Canyon. We were going to explore Escalante as well staging out of Kodachrome Basin State Park with the 14-50 outlets there but the bottom dropped out of the...
  12. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

We are long time National Park visitors and hikers. Hit them all, some several times. For this 2 week trip we went much more off the beaten path.... Moab area BLM lands Bear's Ears National Monument in Utah Natural Bridges National Monument in Utah Vermillion Cliffs National Monument in...
  13. R2 customer production started today! R2 configurator / ordering starts June

I got a pair of the low rise version at REI recently. Worked great on a recent hiking trip.
  14. Looking for advice on Xcel Energy EV Accelerate options in Minnesota

I’ve looked into these plans a bit. The peak rate is so high that even an occasional EV charge during peak times would blow up the cost. My schedule is such that off peak only charging does not really work for me. I get the motivation to move people to off peak charging but the peak to off...
  15. Random Rivian Photos of the Day - Post Yours! 📸
