Yes. HW4 is required for this level of autonomy. Currently on the road, roughly half of Tesla’s fleet is on HW3 or lower. Apparently there’s a plan in place to rectify this hardware deficiency for owners who paid the premium for FSD at the time.
I’m a current subscriber and this is not the case. It does currently monitor alertness. The toggle is granting permission for Rivian to record interior camera footage and upload to the mothership.
Yeah, burden is on the owner, not Rivian. The expectation that the “$100 thousand adventure vehicle” should come with a warning to not use particular cosmetics is unrealistic.
