I ordered my R1S in November 2022 and the current estimate is a bland 2024! I can't quite imagine why a new order today would have the same delivery time. Do they not follow the proverbial "Q"?
I am glad for the delay though because is opened up other options. I placed the deposit for the Volvo...
All we have at the moment is the concept. The EX90 goes into production only in Fall 2023. However, the specs are wonderful; it is a Volvo; is serviced by a local dealership; has Apple CarPlay built in; and has a fast charger capable of charging the vehicle from 10 - 80 percent in 30 minutes...
This is nice, but there is actually a simpler alternative. See https://www.shopmoment.com/products/wall-mount-for-magsafe/standard#featureCallouts-6-slide-2
Peak Design is fantastic, but on balance, I find the magnets on the Moment to be stronger, and the adhesive that secures the magnetic...
There is as yet no Apple Music App native. The way it works is that you fire up Apple Music or Tidal or any such on your phone, and use the commands there, say Siri, to get the phone to play the songs you want. If the phone is synced via BT with the Rivian, the music plays via the BT interface...
That is perfectly fine, but there are a lot of us who not only love CP/AA, but feel that it is a backward step for a new design without it or something equivalent. At the Venice hub, when I pointed out, their initial reaction was that the features I requested can be emulated. When I requested...
As promised, here is an update after visiting the Rivian Hub in Venice, CA. We spent the better part of the morning there. I asked about the BT codec, and alas, no one knew anything about the audio system.
They did however allow me to pair the car via BT. I could not get it to work, but they...
A quick update after chatting with a Rivian rep. Here is what they said:
For your questions - the USB connection port cannot be used to stream music/video. You can connect your phone or device via Bluetooth. We're working on adding additional apps but, for now, Spotify, TuneIn and Alexa-powered...
@mkg3 -- You might well be right. The team that built the hardware would no doubt have known about the decision to restrict sources to lossless BT, if indeed such a decision had been made, and rigged the system to ensure an optimal result given the constraints. And yet, I can't help wonder why...
@mgc0216 -- There is no true answer to this question as perception is by definition subjective. But can one pick up some of the microphonics that enhances the experience of music? I would imagine so, provided a) that the source is good (hence the need for hi-res files) and b) the reproducing...
This is not difficult to do. All one needs is a good mike such as the ones you mention. There is free software out there and some really good tutorials on the web. But I'd have thought that Meridian would have done this. To me, the bigger question is the absence thus far of hi-res music sources...
