Third vote for this line of reasoning - my family has five cars from four different OEMs. the Rivian is the only one that does not support car play. Being able to have one user experience (crappy as it might be with CarPlay) is just easier. I haven't bothered to learn the Rivian's navigation...
Bingo, good guess (at least in my case).
I got the same warning about the air suspension. Took about a month and a half to get the service appt, vehicle remained drivable.
The ride high sensor is a lever arm that connects to the suspension with a bolt. In my case the bolt had fallen out...
This one disproportionately annoys me when every time I'm driving the Rivian on the highway, I get in this doom loop of -
Sign: 7 miles to exit X,
Me: okay let me just check the odometer so I can know when I need to switch lanes,
Me: ah just f*** me - this stupid car was designed by people...
It's slight hyperbole , but I'm sure there is an element of truth to it. The Rivian team that decided to put the service center in Brooklyn clearly had never driven. While Brooklyn is a 'cool' place for young people to live in NYC it is plagued with terrible traffic and terribly inconvenient...
Ha ha, I haven't done that one (seat belt) yet. Yeah, I know I'm whining , I complained about the lack of odometer in my day 1 commentary a year ago. I think every April when I update my registration I'll complain about the odometer on some thread.
Here is another one for you - don't turn off...
Even worse , since I bought my Rivian they took it from the main vehicle display and buried it in Settings->About. Why?
Per my comments, I really think it comes down to engineers that do not understand how people use their vehicle IRL. Their thinking - as voiced in Dark-FX's comment, "Why...
Strangely , the tech was not willing to sign the state legal attestation of mileage required in PA based on the app display. Personally I think he was being a wuss.
To me the bigger problem is not having it on the dashboard for navigational uses. Technically I don't need the official odometer...
Let me second all of this. It is inane that there is no Odometer on the dash. I just wasted an extra hour at PepBoys getting my state inspection done (No Rivian service center in PA) because the techs could not find the odometer and spent an hour passing the car around between techs , finally...
So turns out you're not alone.
recent Consumer Reports video on tiktok titled - "Least Favorite Cars we tested in 2023"
Host 1 - ... So For me , the Rivian R1S... very low overall score... oddly, owner satisfaction for this car is very high .... it's just undriveable for me, for comfort...
Live-traffic for the navigation system will also be a loss.
You would also lose the ability to remote-control the vehicle when parked , remote-monitor when charging, except when the vehicle is on your home wifi.
There are easy (but not profitable to Rivian) things that could be done here...
I'll post a review in a new thread when they arrive. Note that you have to select 2022 R1S as your vehicle to get to the liners.

Have you seen the aux system on the new Ford Bronco? My buddy has the Bronco, I've got to say they did a really good job with that as far as I can tell.
Rivian needs to sell more vehicles to create a bigger aftermarket for accessories - WeatherTech has now just finally released a trunk liner...
Ha ha , no I do not think comparing the Rivian to a Suburban on build quality is meant to be a compliment.
Overall, I'm okay with the build quality, obviously a new manufacturer is going to have issues. I'm keeping a bit of a tally on my Rivian R1S:
a) the frunk is not level with the...
PAAK 100% of the time. I admittedly am a bit nervous about doing that, one day I came out and the car had just randomly 'forgotten' my phone and I needed to get a key to get into the vehicle and re-program the phone.
It can be annoying to not have a key, when you get stuck with valet parking...
