  1. Finished R2 demo test drive? Share your review / impressions

I am a first-day reservation holder who has never owned an EV, but I’ve driven an R1T for about ten miles of varied road and I’ve spent maybe 30 minutes in various Model 3’s. Plus a few minutes in a Leaf, a BMW i3 and even a Corbin Sparrow. My wife and I shared 30 minutes in an unaccompanied...
  2. 2027 Rivian R2 EPA Certification w/ specs (range, battery capacity, charging rate, efficiency etc.)

This is described as a 2027 R2. So does it apply only to later vehicles with Lidar etc? The wording about the heat pump vs conventional AC on R2 Launch vehicles confuses me. Are Launch vehicles model year 2026?
  3. Valet mode-anyone interested?

The last time (of about 3 or 4 times in my life) I used valet parking, they took my older Ford Ranger but told me it would be parked offsite, so it would take a few minutes to retrieve when I wanted to pick it up. Yet there were plenty of MB’s and and BMW’s parked in front. That was about 30...
  4. Lindsay VW of Dulles - The Nations #1 Source for Pre-Owned Rivians

Do you handle DMV paperwork for far-away states? California specifically. I could imagine a one-way flight to DC and a nice road trip back home.
  5. R2 V2L Charging Adapter "Field Outlet" trademarked by Rivian

Yeah, I’m just surprised they used 5-20’s and not 5-15’s. Even if the upstream circuit can provide 20 Amps there’s not many loads that really need it. I can’t remember the last time I even saw something with a 5-20P plug.
  6. R2 V2L Charging Adapter "Field Outlet" trademarked by Rivian

It’s two 5-20 receptacles; ignoring any derating isn’t that 2x20 Amps or 2400W nominal?
  7. R1T Bike Transport - Range Impacts

In our gasoline pickup having 2-3 bikes in the bed with the forks over the tailgate is about 5% mpg hit. In our VW Golf with 2 bikes on the hitch rack (1Up) is about 10%. We haven’t taken many long trips with the pickup and the hitch rack but it’s probably more than 5% hit. Obviously different...
  8. 2026 R2 pricing, range & specs! $57,990 Performance Launch Edition / $53,990 Premium / $48,490 Standard / $45,000 Standard (Smaller Battery)

Thanks, I wasn’t aware of this. $335-$600 for these ā€œdefeatersā€. Similar in principle to the airbag defeaters that van conversion builders use if they remove airbags in a passenger van converted to an RV.
  9. 2026 R2 pricing, range & specs! $57,990 Performance Launch Edition / $53,990 Premium / $48,490 Standard / $45,000 Standard (Smaller Battery)

I assume we’ll find out soon, but does anyone know if the adaptive shocks are connected to any external sensors or inputs, or is the damping adjustment all internal? I’m sure they work well for a while but eventually I’d think replacing them with Bilstein/Fox/King etc conventional high end...
  10. 2026 R2 pricing, range & specs! $57,990 Performance Launch Edition / $53,990 Premium / $48,490 Standard / $45,000 Standard (Smaller Battery)

I’m in the target market and currently own three ICE vehicles, all 2015 or newer; one with 15ā€ and two with 16ā€ vehicles. I am running 65 profile tires on the 15ā€ rims (a Golf) and 75’s on the others, which are both 4WD with load range E AT tires. 19ā€ and 21ā€ wheels don’t belong on any AWD...
  11. Any Santa Cruz/ Monterey owners out there?

Hi, I’ve been mostly lurking here since I cancelled my pre-launch reservation for an R1T shortly after getting a test drive in late 2022. I loved the truck, but a combination of budget and concerns about the nearest Service Center being in South SF prompted me to pull the plug. But I do have an...
  12. CHP Throwing Shade on Rivians (well, EVs at a minimum)

    I saw a CalTrans R1T just today.
  13. Review: I rode the ALSO TM-B E-Bike: Rivian Micromobility Startup’s First EV

I’m not sure GPS or alarm will do much after thieves get familiar with them. Probably a single wire cut or just a smack on the stem mounted display unit could put that out of commission.
  14. Review: I rode the ALSO TM-B E-Bike: Rivian Micromobility Startup’s First EV

GPS maybe. The good riding spots often don’t have any cellular connectivity. Which is a good thing šŸ˜€
  15. Another White Rim trail trip report

Thanks for posting. My wife and I rode the White Rim on mountain bikes about three years ago, on a supported tour, but I wouldn’t mind going back on four wheels. Question: do you think it would have been harder or easier going the other direction? Our tour company’s diesel Ford SuperDuty support...
