My biggest change is that I discovered trickle charging using a regular outlet can work for me. Moved to a house with no other option and don't want to spend on getting the box rewired.
But am getting ~25-30 mile a day with a trickle charge even taking into account time of use and only...
I use ABRP for the initial planning and flag the stops that I want to make and to make sure I have options. Then will use the Rivian Nav while driving and make any adjustments if needed.
Also - do not pay attention to the range number on the Driver's Screen, only the one on the Nav. The one...
As everyone is mentioning, you don't get a lot of range and have to transport the gas safely. And if you are Boondocking, do you really want to hear a generator all day?
@Dlcromwell not sure where you are going in AZ but just spent 2 weeks there coming from LA. I actually opted into the EA monthly plan before I went and had no trouble with any of their chargers. I think I used 5 different ones. They were also better priced with the plan vs the Rivian ones...
We tow a 28ft Pottery Barn Airstream with our R1S. Just towed from LA to the Grand Canyon and now am in Sedona. This picture is on part of Historic Route 66 near Oatman, AZ which is an amazing drive if you ever get the chance.
We also took Route 66 whenever we had the chance and went up and...
I was under 1000lbs but over 810lbs and didn't worry about as it drives and tows great. Would I worry about 1,500? Yes but being 15-20% over hasn't been an issue. Also last time I checked the 810lbs wasn't 'official' in the owners manual (that could have changed)

With regards to the hitch, we have this one "ANDERSEN HITCHES | 3303 | Weight Distribution Hitch | 2" Shank, 6" Drop, 2-5/16" Ball" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHL1SD5T)
I don't remember the tongue honestly as have not weighed it since we additionally did. We do generally only run...
Most of the things you mentioned don't matter - will be mostly about your aerodynamics. Assume that you will lose 1/2 of your range but will probably be +/- 15 to 20% based on how boxy the trailer is
As someone who tows a large airstream with an R1S, the part that stuck out the most was the jerkiness you reported. I have never experienced that with the Rivian and a couple different trailers. Haven't seen that reported by anyone else either - maybe that is hitch related? Sounds...
Is this whole thread some sort of response to this article whose source is the Financial Times (paywall so couldn't read) but the title is " Carmakers push back against Apple’s takeover of the dashboard "

Just to jump in on this which is exactly right. We have an R1S and tow a 7,000 lb airstream and get about 1.3 kwh. That is about 180 miles of range which means we have to charge every 2.5 hours or so when towing. We live in SoCal so it is fine as we can get most places we will go for long...
