That’s is awesome. I remember Tesla forums back in 2016 - 2020 where it was like every other post at the car being dead due to the 12V.
Same thing is currently going on with Rivian forums…
Tesla moved to Lithium Ion 12V though. Hope Rivian’s solution is just as good!
I'll gladly pay $5K additional for a Premium R2 for V2L, better looks (new Model Y looks like a Kia/Hyundai), more ground clearance, and an interior that doesn't look like a Nordic prison.
that makes sense. However over this past winter, my cameras in my Tesla have been covered in salt/slush. I don’t know how Rivian handles that in 360 birdseye view but the Tesla warns about parking assist issues when that happens.
Sensors are a nice redundancy in my opinion (USS seem to work...
Looks like the R2 won't have traditional parking sensors...They're using a radar (dual-radar).
Since these will be mounted in the corners - will they be useless with close accuracy (example: less than 2ft away)????
To me this is a killer feature... a fumeless generator with a huge battery. This is one of those things that you may only use 2 or 3 times a year, but it will be a lifesaver.
I get worried since I know they need better margins - so I figured they'll remove stuff like Tesla did.
It's funny one of coolest things that sold me on Tesla 8 years ago was the parking sensor UI (it showed an arc with how many inches you were away from the object). Now they cheaped out - not...
Did Rivian confirm if they're using real sensors in the R2 like the R1? Specifically rain-sensors and parking sensors???
I have a Model Y and it uses the camera as a rain-sensor (awful) and cameras for parking sensors (extremely inaccurate and useless at night).
Hoping Rivian won't cheap out...
