Not going to repeat all the excellent points in this thread. IMO, Rivian will be interesting to watch in Georgia. They really need to limit capex spending NOW. If R2 sales don't ramp quickly in 2027 they will need a buyer. Preserving cash gives them options.
Assuming the truck checks out, if you are concerned about range don't stick with the AT tires. Trade them in for a 20in all weather tire (I've owned 2 Ts with AT tires and they stink). They suck in cold weather too. Might be good if you rock crawl, but daily driving they are noisy, don't last...
It depends on your definition of luxury. Of vehicles I've owned the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport are well above my Rivian Tri Ascend as far as interior quality.
I've only owned Ts, and have seen R2 close up twice. The R2 interior is a little less qualify than R1, but certainly not a Hyundai quality comparable vehicle either. The most striking difference in person is how much smaller the R2 is. It is Subaru Forester or Honda CRV size. Take out the air...
I have no idea why Rivian picked grey as the one included with the order, but I'm surprised it wasn't white (I think white was included on my 22 R1T). One third of all passenger vehicles are white & if you add black then you have of all vehicles. At least that is the way it used to be. My...
Price is high, but high oil prices & tariffs are part of the story. But don't expect prices to go down when those situations resolve themselves. Remember tariffs don't just increase prices on imported items. Some domestic producer is being protected and they raise prices to the import plus...
I think the aforementioned build quality is the issue. I've said this before, but I'm on my fourth R1T and they all have had rattles & noises my other vehicles don't have. Our Lexus TX cost 30,000 less than my Tri and iphone decibel reading is 10 lower in the TX. For me the T is the perfect size...
I've never understood Rivian being so evasive on these calls. I listen to these sometimes professionally and this one is the new leader in the worst call ever category.
As soon you read the ownership structure (multiple types of stock), board selection method & composition and then how the pay package was created (and by whom) I will start listening to you. I have loved all four of my R1Ts, but the last thing stockholders needed (I'm not one) is a $400 million...
My first gen 1 T had over 60,000 when I traded. The black seats were wrinkled more than I expected. My second gen 1 had 35,000 on it, and those black seats looked like new when I traded it. My first gen 2 had 30,000 miles on it when I traded it, and the grey interior was excellent. This one only...
If you don't like maintenance along with tire & brake replacement don't get a BMW. The run flat tires ride terrible and last less than the stock Rivian tires. BMW doesn't warranty their brakes AT ALL any more. We've owned three X5s and just traded off my last one ever. Just be careful. Don't...
I would like to know this too. Road salt that doesn't get removed from brake use will destroy your brakes quicker than aggressive braking every time you stop.
I have provided POS financing for retailers (vehicles, equipment, etc) before. Rivian will be providing a guarantee on the residual value; Chase isn't taking that risk beyond some nominal percent, or it could be a "pool" concept where Chase absorbs the first "X" in residual value losses and...
