The Shell charge station has been "under repair" for years. I don't think they are too serious.
This was from four years ago when it didn't work.
Ely now has a Tesla SC but where is the station in Wells? Elko, West Wendover, and Twin Falls were the reliable destinations that I have encountered. If there is a new one, I would love to note it.
I did this in a Jeep Overland. You need a high ground clearance pickup, SUV or rental car. A "rock climbing" Jeep is not necessary for this trail. There are some local maps for back road difficulty.
Shafer Trail is a "must do"!
Number one reference is "Photographing the Southwest" by Laurent Martrés. Some regions and editions are out of print but they are worth the eBay price for guidance.
Check Plugshare for lodges in the area that have overnight L2 chargers. The one in Boulder is next to Hells Backbone Grill. NYT called it one of ten best restaurants in the country.

I also have a 2022 Kia EV6 GT-L FE. It has HUD, trip gauge on the driver screen, a sunroof that opens, media player, AM/FM radio, CarPlay, drive mode changes from the steering wheel - but no rear wiper! Drives me crazy when there is crap on the rear window.
