100% but they also need to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. Build the cheap version, but design versions that can have more range as OPTIONS. And then let the people decide if they want a $55k SUV that goes 300 miles or a 70k SUV that goes 350, or an 85k one that goes 400.

The optics of having the cheapest trim be the longest range is wild. I get it from a physics standpoint but it's terrible for sales. They need to get to a place where premium is 350+ and Performance is 400+
I will likely keep holding out until some SUV/Truck comes out with mileage closer to 500 and then switch to that. Or if I start getting hit with expensive out of warranty maintenance on the R1T which will be possible later this year.
Range is the biggest factor for me - I will probably wait until someone has 500+ miles in either an SUV or a truck and then I’ll jump to that.
Rumor is the Chevy Silverado EV holds closer to the EPA range so that may be an option if the out of warranty repairs get too scary.
I hope Rivian...
Love our vehicle but we’ve also had lots of bugs:
1. FM radio has always been unreliable
2. Garage door doesn’t always recognize when we’re “home” so can’t use the steering wheel button to open the garage door
3. Having that garage button be the same as cancel kneel is really inconvenient when...
I hope that they’ll be able to figure out how to release those additional roads to Gen1 vehicles and the text messaging.
Totally makes sense that the point to point and other AI improvements won’t work with the hardware we have but it would go a long way to proving to the community that these...
I'm glad you're in a good spot to pay higher fuel costs, but given the fact that gas prices were a huge factor in swinging a national election, I think they would do more for the cause by keeping those prices as dirt cheap as possible until they hit a wider market tipping point.
Thanks for mathing that out for us but it still proves their point that an ICE vehicle would be cheaper to fuel with those rates. Which is a shame, they are really shooting themselves in the foot.
Ooof - that is rough man I'm sorry. It's one of the coolest parts of the truck, I really hope they can figure out a design that works. I think they need to lean into something that is easier for the customer to clean out any jams themselves without needing it to be serviced because of...
This is the way - having the car handles pulled in but still be unlocked would seem like an odd setting. Like it looks locked but isn't actually. There's a setting to just leave your car unlocked when at home.
I just had a similar experience where I charged the vehicle up overnight, but outside with temps in the single digits. On a full charge I wasn't able to make a 190 mile trip without stopping. And even with preconditioning, we weren't able to pull charging speeds faster than 22kW and we tried two...
