You're absolutely right, should just combine those two steps. Tapping Tire Change mode should first set the ride height to Max, then apply the other tire change settings.
Though you'll probably want to use Entry/Exit/Kneel/Low mode first, just to climb into the bed and pull out the 90lb tire!
