  1. 70 mph Range Test - Tri / Max / Defenders / Conserve = 335 miles

@PaythePiper @TomServo2112 , not to hijack this thread, but some guy wrote really detailed guide on how to reduce the wind noise. it worked pretty well for me lol ? https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/guide-r1s-r1t-wind-noise-fix.27885/
  2. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

i would try placing the rubber seals inside the window frame from my guide based on what you're saying. If the seal is better when you lower and re-tighten, it also may be beneficial to try to reset the window roll-up set points. I believe you have to hold the window up button for 5 seconds or...
  3. 20" Inch YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR CV 4S | 275/60R20 - 116H - 660AA - 3PMSF

i have nothing to add other than to say thank you so much! people like you really add a lot to the rivian and EV community! I am considering a gen2 R1S soon with 20inch wheels so i have more tire choices, and was looking for an all weather tire as I get occassional snowstorms. I'm not familar...
  4. 70 mph Range Test - Tri / Max / Defenders / Conserve = 335 miles

you the man! this was literally what I was searching for on this forum for a long time, so many thanks to you. looks like the tri-max on all season 20's is similar to what a gen1 dual motor R1S on 21 all seasons gets. the efficiency gains from the gen2 platform got neutralized by the 3rd motor...
  5. New 21" tire option - Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 275/55-21 @ $380

I made the switch to the defenders about 3000 miles ago. way better than the pirellis! they are noticeably quieter than the pirellis. efficiency is about the same, i get 2.4-2.6 around 70-72mph highway cruising on all purpose (I have dual motor, which means only front axle is engaged). tread...
  6. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

I agree with @akc5247. you can definitely try different size seals or tubes to see what works for you. but the big picture is calling it quits once things are pretty good. it is absolutely a rabbit hole where you keep trying to improve things "just a little bit more" but it has very diminishing...
  7. Level 2 charging causes my house LEDs to flicker

I had this problem with LED lights on dimmers too. after a lot of googling, I think it boils down to rivian's inverter not being as high quality as other manufacturers. I can say this because I have had mutiple EVs of different brands (audi, bmw) using the same charger at home with no...
  8. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

I try to avoid adhesive as there's likely going to be a residue if you remove it. I would try a larger round seal like the 10mm you are suggesting. uxcell on amazon is nice. they literally make 3mm to 18mm round seals so you can try different sizes that work for you. here's the 10mm link...
  9. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

As always, save some money by first putting some painters tape over the areas and see if that improves the windnoise. If it does, the item you want to get is: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BYSNVCFS one item is enough. it is a "T" shaped strip and is a 2 pack with a 14mm size and 19mm...
  10. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

so i cant help but to keep tinkering with the wind noise and I added the door seals to the rears as well. it made the car even quieter (maybe 10-15%). i think the biggest gains come from the front doors, but if you don't mind spending a little more and really getting the cabin quiet, I would...
  11. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

if you're having wind noise coming from above, it actually may be generated by the crevices of the windshield. try putting some round rubber seal along the vertical sides of the windshield (blue in my picture). I used uxcell 8mm (0.31inch) to wedge in the gap you can also try putting a flat...
  12. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

the nice thing about my fix is that it's easily removable. if you remove the trim lok round seal and your window seal still doesn't close right, that's probably the source of your wind noise. also, other posters' windows seem to have different tolerances than mine, so you could also experiment...
  13. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

just to be clear when I say tucked in the existing seal, I mean like this
  14. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

yeah if its inside the seal and being squeezed out, your seal is tighter than mine. up to you how much you want to go down down this rabbit hole, but someone posted a link to a different brand of round rubber seal, and they make smaller sizes (7mm, 6mm etc)
  15. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

i just oriented it in a way to make it wedged in and snug. i used the L shape seal because that's what hamdan's post used and it worked pretty well. you can definitely experiment and try other seals too
