Tried the fast charging precondition trick today for the first time. Didn't throttle until 95% but it did still throttle. Battery temp at start was 54F according to the car and 59F in ABRP (first time using that as well -- why different readings?). ABRP battery temp 63F when it started throttling.
If this is normal operation, why did no one in the service center seem to know that? Seems like they should be up front in any sales material that this is the case because it's unlike any other electric car I've owned or have heard of. Smells like a class action lawsuit waiting to happen.
I thought it was working but apparently not. I have no idea why it managed to charge to 100% the night we received the update but it's back to throttling.
The update may have fixed the problem for me! The car updated last night and I was able to charge from under 50% to 100% overnight for the first time since I got the car in December. Has anyone else that had the charging problem seen the same thing yet?
First, all I knew before we took that road trip was that the Rivian was trickle charging while plugged into a Level 2 charger. I had no idea if it would only charge at a trickle going forward. I didn't know if Level 3 charging was also affected. All I knew is that it was acting screwy and that...
I was having problems before the update and the update occurred while it was in the SC. They recreated the problem after the update. So the update didn't fix or cause anything for me. I haven't had to charge since I got the car back.
Did it stay at 6kW to 100%? Maybe you could live with it but you shouldn't have to! I'm curious if it will continue to charge like this or if it will revert to the super slow version.
If the Service department was telling the truth, they effectively did this when they had it. They said they did a couple of charges to 100% and were about to give it back to me because they "couldn't reproduce the problem" but then they tried one more time and had the issue. I'm not sure I could...
Add me to the list of people having this issue. I posted on a different Rivian forum on December 15. I picked up my new R1S on December 6. I had home charging set to 85% and didn't notice any issues at first. On December 13 in the evening, I plugged in at around 50% SOC and set the car to charge...
