I remember at least one Tesla getting fried by lightning. We once lost a microwave. It's not common, but it's not hard to avoid either.
My grandfather was killed by lightning...he saw the storm coming and headed back towards the house on his tractor, but didn't quite make it.
Just piling on...
My only concern (for OP) is the same as BigSkies': the distance to the service department. If OP can live with that, and OP is otherwise fine with one car, so I don't see why it can't be an EV.
While we have two cars, they have both been EVs since 2009 - not only do we not...
Indeed - like the 1912 Baker Electric I was next to in Portland. Back in the day they had all sorts of things - personal and commercial EVs, home charging stations, battery swapping stations, etc.
In fact at some point - I dare say around 1909 - EVs had the greatest market share. Although a lot...
Thanks for posting, I love these things.
In 1909, Seattle held an "Alaska Yukon Pacific" Exposition that drew 3.7 million people. It was held on land that is now part of the University of Washington; in fact a couple of the exposition buildings are still a part of U.W.
As part of the event...
Several more photos of how the original Quikrstuff Mach2 fits on an R1S are HERE. I have been very happy with the rack; in fact one of the things I like is how close it fits.
FSD works more places, but most of those places i don't want to use it because it makes enough mistakes i have to watch it so carefully it doesn't feel like a benefit. Where i would use it on the freeway, our Rivian does well. Other opinions vary, but my wife and I don't miss FSD at all...
Similar to mkg3, the frunk. Specifically, that it has a powered hood with a button to open it.
I had several EVs with frunks before the Rivian, but i had to get in the car or bring up the phone app to unlatch the hood, and then lift it - a real pain when your hands are full of groceries.
I agree that the dealers have a legitimate fear. I'd still like to see a mechanism to allow other new EV companies (heck, any new company) sell directly, if they don't have an existing dealer network...and aren't trying to just get around it on a technicality. I admit that could be difficult...
Agreed that it would be nice to see it do what it can. 15 years ago when I was taking EV road trips, I'd take speed, distance and elevation into account and make estimates before starting out, then adjust them on the fly in my head for weather conditions. I was willing to go to that effort then...
We've had EVs since 2008, and I have been doing road trips in them since 2009 (in fact right now I'm in Oregon; returning to Seattle from Arizona).
At home, we used to plug in every night and charge to 90%, but now I don't plug in unless I'm below 60% and then I only charge to 70%. My wife does...
HERE is a post I made when I tried to power my house from Ecoflow batteries while charging them from my R1S. TLDR: I could kind make it work, but it was not nearly as convenient as I had hoped. The difficult part was that the Ecoflow won't allow simultaneous 120V input and 240V output.
If...
