In other threads, someone measured the distance from the bottom of the back of the rear seats to the plastic where the liftgate should end. This measurement came to a little longer than 36”
Has anyone measured the distance roughly from the back of the seats to a closed liftgate both at the top...
It’s ok to disagree with their strategy.
I see it as a mechanism to inject vehicles into markets that the company hasn’t been able to gain traction in before ($100k vs $60k) because there isn’t as much money as in SoCal and our fancy beach community :P
Are you concerned with losing Launch...
Took a second drive… this time I had the spouse with me. Drove from DelMar CA in their CatalinaCove with 20” Taking route on 56 east 4 miles then some twisty back roads west.
Wife liked it much better than my Tesla Model 3 DM AWD LR. She seriously dislikes regen brake driving and did not like...
“Rides better” is subjective and not necessarily “rough” or “smooth”
I drove the R2 then the R1S. I felt the R2 was “harsh” and the R1S was “smooth”, however the R2 was 100% more in tune with the road where the R1S sort of just floated. I almost equate this to driving a sports sedan, ie BMW...
In the quote it was RJ that talked specifically about ‘digging out of all of the self-inserted complexity….
Hmmmm
Oh and your analogy to MB, BMW, etc doesn’t makes sense because those vehicles weren’t even close to the first vehicles ever produced by the companIes.
I love the R1’s as there...
From MotorTrend:
“The Rivian team’s thinking about product has changed dramatically since it launched the R1T, R1S, and RCV, as Scaringe puts it, “within the same three-month period, and in the middle of COVID, and then into a supply chain crisis. It was impossibly hard, and we were digging...
Think of it in the simple case:
Lets produce the first 25k vehicles all with:
Black Crater Signature interior
Tow hitch
Dual Motor AWD
Active Dampers
Rear Window
You have now eliminated 7 variables on the possible configurations and cut it down to ONLY 2: Paint and wheels.
You have a narrow...
Keep in mind, all I'm doing is GUESSING at the monthly and calculating the APR. If Rivian uses the Performance APR, the monthlies will be much higher.
People need to understand that a portion of the high lease APR is, in my opinion, due to the "free" launch package value of $3700 :P
The ironic part... is using their own leasehackr calculator, the APR is 1.2% higher at 10.08% because the terms are $3500 down + $500 deposit paying acq and other fees up front. Not sure how they came to $939/mo for the $57990 either.
The comparison is taking a 60mo loan at the offered 5.79% and looking at the loan balance after 3 years. It then takes the delta between the residual value of the lease and that loan balance to estimate whether or not you might be positive or negative. The net cost is the total paid in the...
Here is a rundown showing the current Performance leasing… then maintaining the same residual, cap cost, but reducing the rent charge to around where the R1 line sits (4.5-6.5% or so). Can vary the residual but the APR is reverse calculated by putting in the total cap cost and the monthly. I’m...
Nice to hear... I'm in the decision point of TM3 to R1S or R2 with the tradeoffs of size/range/complexity vs agility/simplicity/cost on a utility with kid/dog/activities in mind.
Thx for the answer on 60-80 pull
Agreed on the acceleration. I'd be interested to hear feedback from those that drove on the highway and managed something like a 60 to 80 mph pass acceleration.
