  1. El CAP GRANITE Rivian Photos

First time, I see one in person at work. It is more pleasant to the eye in person than in pictures, and the color suits it very well. Nice one, congratulations!
  2. ? My F-150 Lightning Arrived! Comparison & Opinions Quick Take vs my R1T

Thank you for the comparison and information. I think Ford has set the benchmark for eTrucks, everythink else right now is also-ran.
  3. Any tests done on Vampire battery drain?

Since Tesla and Polestar have been mentioned, I'll throw in Audi eTron data: My eTron does not lose any charge just sitting around, and it does sit around for 3-4 days on a regular basis. However, it has a regular 12V battery similar to an ICE car, and apparently if the car is not driven for a...
  4. Out of Spec: Rivian R1T Highway Range Test

I am not sure how you did your test, but during my "regular" drive between 70-75 mph that is ~32 miles, with tailwind I get 3.2-3.3 mi/kWh, and with headwinds, I get 2.7-2.8 mi/kWh. Regardless, I think that most people are now getting used to the idea of having a usable range in their vehicles...
  5. Rivian R1T charging curve test 20-80% [by TFL]

For comparison purposes, here is a charging session of an eTron using EA 150 kWh charger: The TFL session:
  6. First Time EV Buyers: Battery Size and Charging Apprehensions

We deviated a bit too much on this discussion towards the end, but just to close it out with some final thoughts: I took @OEVA ‘s advice, had a 50-amp circuit installed into the garage, and now charging is not even an afterthought. The car draws at of 8.8-8.9 kWh, and within less than 6 hours...
  7. First Time EV Buyers: Battery Size and Charging Apprehensions

I am not trying to dodge your questions, the answers will take more pages than available to explain. Many books have been written on performance driving techniques, and countless discussions continuously happen on many other forums. Frankly, as best as I understand your type of driving, it most...
  8. First Time EV Buyers: Battery Size and Charging Apprehensions

Again, I think we are different types of drivers :) if I am not mistaken, few decades ago Mario Andretti said:
  9. First Time EV Buyers: Battery Size and Charging Apprehensions

As I mentioned previously, controlling the vehicle’s attitude, or weight at each corner. One can, of course, argue about what is "proper technique" but it doesn't seem that there is anything that friction brakes can do that regen can't except decelerate faster than what one using what generally...
  10. First Time EV Buyers: Battery Size and Charging Apprehensions

I understand your point of view @ajdelange . Brakes, however, are not devices that only stop a vehicle, they have another equally important role in driving. BEV or not, a car is a car and still has to obey physics laws, and require proper techniques to make the most of it, besides going from A...
  11. First Time EV Buyers: Battery Size and Charging Apprehensions

We are different types of drivers it appears. Breaks are critical for me to be able to modulate the attitude of the vehicle, besides to "go pedal." :)
  12. First Time EV Buyers: Battery Size and Charging Apprehensions

I cannot comment on the last paragraph, I don’t think understand it. The GT has different cockpit than other eTrons, there is no third screen for HVAC controls, they are physical buttons. Volume control, media channels are physical buttons, cruise control, adaptive parking, lane keeping are...
  13. First Time EV Buyers: Battery Size and Charging Apprehensions

Thank you all for the input, really appreciate it. I don't intend to exclusively use DCFC of course. An electrician is scheduled to install a 50-amp circuit in 10 days, so I until then I have to use it. So, far it has been really painless, however, I do agree that home charging will minimize...
