Will iheart radio be free for the life of the car? Maybe. Or it failes and loose this backdoor. Or it goes subscription. So sick of those. Pretty sure my FM will be working for free in 10 years.
But 2025 study says 56% of all car drivers use radio, so NOT obsolete.
Just because you have moved to a different deliver method, Radio is still the choice for over 1/2 the drivers. For some of us, cell based really sucks.
Sure Rivian saves $25 bucks (est) on radio hardware and loose sales...
It will nav to destination and can use maps. It won't give you "charge % and remaining range at destination" as that uses the cloud to calculate based on weather, wind, etc.
OK, I can see why, but it's a pain waiting to get closer to town before I see those numbers. Now add waiting for Fake...
Just tried iHeart radio. ZERO local stations that I use at home or at the cabin streaming. Zero. And looked for the biggest ones around, 95.5 WIFC for example is The local top 40 station for last 50 years.
So go to distant feed over cell and loose local news that matters to me for kids sports...
No radio, what is this, a fricking cheap-azz SLATE for $58k?
Single digit usage? This 2025 report says radio at 56% across all brands. Then Sirius at 13%, then Spotify at 6%... Apple Music at 3%... Trying to broaden reach past R1 owners? You have to look at all users. So let's make this bad for...
Did see HD radio is kind of a Hybrid both where the main channel is analog and the subs are digital.
The phone radios with FM tuners use to have terrible reception. Used the headphone cable as an antenna and probably the wrong length to do well. And that's the problem: if don't have cell...
HD FM is digital
And yeah, the CD is digital lossless, 20-22khz range, 96 dB dynamic range , and DRM free, so you own it and can make whatever digital format you want. Lots of good stuff comes with CDs.
R2 no radio? -1. Bmw Ix3 radio, +1.
Really though, use FM everyday in our cars. Cell is zero at house and our cabin. Don't get coverage for 5-6 minutes from home. By then 2 songs into FM or vested in topic on Local NPR. Oems don't understand, so can't wake car from sleep with app, as it doesn't...
Charge Point is solid. Also has a cable that stays VERY flexible in the cold. Not all do and that can be important if the temp drops below 10 deg f. Check Tom for review of cold weather chargers cable flex.
Also avoid giving Musk any money if we can and there are plenty of EV home charge...
Someone needs to pick these up! They are really good snows at a GREAT price. He Moved in the wrong directing and I picked up a set last fall. But someone get these!
Loath the large rim thing. So many bad things: worse range, rim damage, worse ride, always more $$ to replace a tire with less side wall. Always go for smallest rim available.
Looks are subjective and I don't know why all rim/no rubber became cool. Really don't agree with that on a truck. But...
My father bought them. Or more like: I spent inheritance on solar as he would have wanted us to have them. If not, I fully self installed and wired and parts cost for 7kw system was about $9k. Not all they produce has gone into cars, and rest offsets cost of house electric. The system was...
