My Rivian was just at the Gaithersburg SC for the 5th time in a year. Each time, it sits there in the parking lot for over a week before anyone even looks at it. Then they spend 1-2 more weeks "diagnosing" it and then returning it unfixed almost every time. I've gotten to the point where I just...
On the 29th day, they'll call you and tell you that the work on your car is "done". Their definition of "done" will not match yours.
And if you bring it back, they'll say it's technically a different issue, so they can get around the 3-visits-for-the-same-problem clause.
I brought my Rivian in...
When my Rivian unexpectedly left me stranded with total loss of power, they towed it to Gaithersburg and told me it would be a priority ticket. It still took them two weeks just to replace the 12V battery and nothing else.
When I took it to Gaithersburg for a second repair attempt on a separate...
Same bad SC experience here.
My average "wait time" is 10 days at the SC (10 days where my car rots in the lot). I also picked up a couple door dings along the way (which they tell me is not their responsibility).
Instead of de-contenting (like removing horns, 12V outlets, Meridian sound...
If it's any consolation, when my Rivian suddenly died w/o warning, it was towed to Gaithersburg where it sat for 10 days before they looked at it. When they finally replaced the 12V battery and it woke up to communicate, it had lost no charge at all (tracked via ElectraFi); I presume the...
So the key fob allows you to unlock the car even when it thinks it’s being driven? And the other options (key card, app) won’t do so in this situation?
In addition to ElectraFi, throw an AirTag (or similar device) in the vehicle—it's cheap and will always give you location even if they disconnect the 12V battery for some reason.
Turns out it was a bunch of hot air from the SC just to get rid of me (explains why they kept talking over me when I asked more about the alleged 2024.07.02 "bug" that was causing charging errors and dead 12V batteries). I started getting the same errors again when I got home and plugged in so I...
Has anyone gotten a permanent fix for this "vehicle error" problem?
I started getting these errors a while back and so I scheduled a ticket as early as possible (over a month out). During that wait, my R1S suddenly died with total lack of power and had to be towed off to the Gaithersburg SC...
Easy choice—get the Tesla Universal Wall Charger.
I have both the Rivian charger and the Tesla. Other than taking a few more seconds to sync with the Rivian, the Tesla is better in every way. It's a lot cheaper, it supports both NACS and J1772 so it's future-proof, it will load-balance with...
Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear about the extended delay for service. Rivian really needs to focus on improving their service experience—too many overbooked service centers that take in cars and let them sit for days or weeks in the parking lot before they're even looked at.
Rivian should...
I'm going through the same ordeal. Came out to a completely dead car (zero power to anything, no prior warnings at all). Rivian towed it to the SC and it took them 10 days to just replace the 12V battery. They blamed it on a bug in 2024.07.02 and they were adamant that it was an "actual bug"...
