Easy to do as long as the original owner has de-linked the fob from their vehicle. All you do is contact Rivian and they will help you out. IF the fob is one of the VERY early fobs, one that has a “nonstandard” ID number inside the fob, you’ll need to being it to a Rivian SC to have them assist you. Orherwise it can be linked to your Rivian over the phone. The max number of devices/cards/fobs/wristbands linked to a single Rivian is 10 which includes your iPhone phone and Apple Watch as two separate devices.

It is possible to transfer the R1T key fob to other GEN-1 R1T. This is the process:

1. Existing owner calls Rivian, explains the situation.
2. Rivian shall raise a service request.
3. Existing owner uploads inside picture ( serial under the battery) of the key fob to the service request.
4. Rivian service technician deactivates the key fob, removes the association to VIN.
5. Service ticket moves to resolved and the key disappears from existing owner account, no more seen in the Rivian app.

The process is same for adding, new owner calls Rivian, similar steps, except this time it would be added to an account.
