My Rivian RS1 was amazing on this classic offroad route. I was surprised at just how well it climbed and scrambled over all sorts of terrain including sand, boulders and steep hills. I am not a big over-roader, but it is obvious that this vehicle is well-engineered and designed for the backcountry. I was nervous about range, but made it through the route and back to the Moab Tesla Charging Station with 17% left. I religiously powered down the vehicle when parked, but lost 3% overnight on two occasions. Not sure why. It wasn't too hot. We mountain biked and took it slow over five days, four nights as follows:

Left Moab with 99%
Started at Trail Head near Visitor Center at Shaffer Rd with 86%
Night 1 - Airport Campground with 79%
Night 2 - Murphy Hogback Campground with 56%
Night 3 - Potato Bottom Campground with 48%
Night 4 - Labyrinth Campground with 41%
Day 5 - Reached paved road 313 with 20%
Drove to Moab Tesla Station and ended with 17%. (Great Coffee Snack Gift store Coyote Cafe across the street!)

An alternative charging station is Electrify America at a the beautiful park on the Colorado River on the North Side of town.
Happy Trails!

I did the same trip back in 2024 and it worked great also. Super amazing scenery and the car did not break a sweat. I remember the jeep days where I had 3 pedals to work and now with just one…it was effortless.
