It seems like Climate Hold turns off after I access my vehicle. If I set it for 8 hours and go out to my car once to get something then the next time I go out (maybe an hour later) it is off and very hot again.

I have tempature sensitive goods like life saving medicine, chocolate & snacks, crayons for the kids, and am often hopping in and out of the car in low 90°F outside tempatures. Is Climate Hold suppose to keep the climate on all day as I expect, or is it designed to turn off after any vehcial access?

I am nearly certain that if you access the car it “resets” the climate as it assumes your “hold” is over (and you are now in the car).

You’ll have to tap it again (and/or re-confirm, i think).

Given your needs, is perhaps a plug in cooler with the outlets “on” a better choice?

Don't mean this to be snarky but if you have such sensitive items in the vehicle and you now know the climate resets each time you return to the vehicle, why not accept the situation and adjust to it. Just make it a point of your routine to reset the climate hold, until the feature is updated or reworked in the future.

The trouble with the current state of the feature is that it turns off without the driver's awareness:
• People quickly access the vehicle (think child or friend runs over for their water) and it turns off climate hold without warning or notifying the driver.

It also seems to randomly fail:
• Turn it on from the app (or often manually from inside the car) before leaving to help baby seats cool off, confirmation that it enabled, come out 30min later to find it off and blazing hot inside. Did it turn off on its own when I opened the back door to load things before getting the kid's ready? Who knows...

I'm mostly asking about climate hold to make sense of the logic model it uses, and to figure out if my car has a bug or if it is by design that the feature shuts itself off earlier than the timer.

My infotainment also crashes randomly (parked or driving), so I know I have some bugs with my early hardware running the newer software. If this is not an issue other people see then it is more reason to get Rivian to service it again.

By design. Use pet mode instead.
