R2 Demo Drive Scheduling is LIVE! Anyone book test drive yet?

One thing that was wonky on my test vehicle was the frunk. First, it wouldn't open for me (pressing or swiping the capacitive button on the front), and it took the employee a couple of tries for it to open. Then the hood didn't rise all the way up -- I wouldn't have known any better, but the employee said, "It should go higher," and he pushed it up a few more inches.

As for closing it, it required a lot more force than I expected to push it down into the position for it to soft-close on its own. I had no such issues with the rear window button (unlike what I saw in some earlier prototype videos).

How do these demo drives work? Is there a predetermined route or something? I've never done a Rivian demo drive before.

You just drive wherever you want to go with a Rivian employee in the vehicle with you. They are trying to keep the driving time down to 30 minutes, so it would be helpful to figure out where you want to drive before you are driving. BTW, it drove GREAT!

Rivian rep walked me out to the R2 and walked me through some quick setup (seat position, mirrors, steering wheel, etc) then said here's a route you can take (set as home/work locations in the UI), but if you're familiar with the area feel free to explore and we'll see you back in a half hour.

It's not capacitive. There's a load cell, you have to use some pressure.

I pressed hard at first and nothing. So I swiped, and nothing. So I pressed again real hard and nothing. That's when the rep stepped in and pressed three times until it opened.

I got some insight into this during my drive.

If you're invited to purchase, you can schedule a test drive within the next several weeks (I think it was two but I don't remember).

If you don't have an invitation, you're only able to pick something that's available within the next 48 hours. Check tomorrow AM for the next day's scheduling. Sales guy said he thinks it gets refreshed at 9am but that was probably a guess.

Phone charger didn't work for me, but employees said it worked earlier.
Sound system is great
Rear glass roll down was perfect, roll up was wonky
Regenerative breaking could be more aggressive at the high setting
Overall, LOVE it!

EDIT: I was worried it would be too short, but the seat rides relatively high if you want.

Demo Drivers, not sure if you'll have time to log into Apple Music, but I'd love to hear some feedback on the R2 audio system... were they able to improve on R1's mediocre Rivian Elevation system or is the sound quality of the R2 Performance Launch Edition's "Premium Audio" equally underwhelming?

Thanks! Good to know. I’m going to try to book something for Friday tomorrow morning, so my wife and I can drive up. We’re about 2 and a half hours away. There’s some nice parks in Fishers as well from what I saw online.

Got in at the Dallas Store this morning..first person in town that I could tell.
Seemed to ride well and no suspension noise like I have experienced on an R1T. Trunk was finicky to open. Took a couple tries. Quieter on highway than my M3P. Steering pretty numb on each setting. Seemed pretty well screwed together!
