I have a couple of wilderness system 140s that I like to carry straight up with kayak saddles on the load bars. Currently, I have Thule load bars on a Chevy boat EUV. There’s no specifications listed on the Rivian site and I called Rivian today and the person that answered did not know the width of the cross bars. Does anyone know?

Mount hole center to center is about 1150mm in front and 1100mm in back I believe. Not sure how much wider the bars actually are, haven't gotten the R2 ones yet.

Not sure this is 100% on point with the question but I have an R1T with OEM crossbars. The center mounting points for both crossbars on the R1T bed are the same 145 cm. As my crossbars have a ski rack mounted on them I did not disassemble the crossbars and ski rack to see how far the crossbars could actually compress but measuring the distance across the center section where the two outer portions slide it was 32 cm of potential compression. So in theory one original crossbar might fit without modification on the R2S. Whether the latching mechanisms are compatible is an unanswered question. There is also some play in the latching system which might help with the second crossbar. An alternative might be cutting a little off one end of the outer sliders. I doubt we will know the answer until someone gets an R2S and tries mounting an OEM crossbar set on it.

We know the latching mechanism is different and the R1 crossbars do not collapse small enough.
