As I recall, Seattle's streetside chargers retract their cables/plug when they are not in Paid status, and extend quite a bit (enough to charge at the street side of the car) when a charging session starts.

I didn't have any trouble charging a Rivian at any of them, as long as the charger and parking space were available.

I'm absolutely certain there's virtually no streetside charging in the US now, but I sure as hell hope that's not still true in 5 years. How long are v3 superchargers going to be around, and even if the existing ones are all still here in 5 years, won't there certainly be a much wider choice of non-Tesla-v3 charging sites available?
There are some in Seattle with long retractable cables, so driver side ports are no big deal.

Personally, I would hate to have to go around my car at home to plug in.
