Can you provide any more details about these events? I would have thought that one of the first principles of designing some high power adapter like this would be something like "make sure that when used (wrongly) in a totally obvious way that it doesn't break itself or other things attached to...
I was able to catch it today during the time it was at a reduced power level. The screen on the charger said it was only putting out 7.6A, 240V. The screen on the charger also said that it's temperature was 84C when it started to throttle back, and around 70C when it increased the power again...
I agree with you that the drops from 3.8kW to low 3s could be from voltage drop. But what I'm really concerned about are the drops all the way down to 1.7kW. It's hard to believe that voltage drop could be causing that, the car would have to be backing off all the way to 7A.
Would be nice if...
I've noticed that recently the Power Level of my L2 charger(240V, 20A circuit, limited to 16A due to 80% debate) is fluctuating during charging. Electrafi screen shot below. My other vehicle(a Jeep PHEV) doesn't seem to have this power fluctuation. Any idea what could be causing this on the...
This is an odd position to take. I used to own a Tesla and always carried the J1772 -> NACS adapter since there were WAY more J1772 L2 chargers around than there were Tesla destination chargers. And now that I own a Rivian I carry the NACS -> CCS adapter. I understand why people hate...
Was the $3k credit the "All Electric Upgrade" incentive that anyone who owned an ICE/Hybrid vehicle could get? If so, it was available to purchase/finance transactions as well as lease transactions.
Elevated privileges? I don't think I'd describe owners having to wait two months for a service appointment for issues that WERE PRESENT AT DELIVERY, and then for the car to sit in the shop for 3 weeks before it even gets looked at, all while Rivian puts you in a POS Enterprise ICE rental as...
Yes, you have to look VERY carefully. Just doing some VERY rough calculations on leasehackr on the same vehicle, keeping almost EVERYTHING else the same, except for varying the $7500 tax credit and the money factor I get:
1)Include the $7500 tax credit, Money Factor = 0.0035(equivalent to...
This was not some loophole that people discovered after the law was passed and started to take advantage. The Korean automakers lobbied hard for the bill to be written in such a way to create this "lease loophole", the lawmakers knew exactly what they were passing when they voted YES on the...
Just wanted to post an update on my thread. I've taken the car through an automatic car wash place in SD called "Soapy Joe's" a few times. It's a traditional place, not touchless. I go for the most basic wash without any of the extra "waxes" or whatever they call them, in the hopes that...
Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, 6AWG is not good for 80A. If it's 6AWG romex then it's good for 55A(derated to 44A for a continuous load following 80% rule), slightly more if it's THHN.
Sure I get that anecdotally a random Tesla or two might have a CCS adapter, but @Southern R1S seemed to imply that EVERY tesla owner they know has one, which I think is way out of the norm.
Are you really saying that EVERY Tesla owner you know has purchased a CCS adapter? Wow, that is the exact opposite experience that I've had. I know many(dozens/hundreds?) of Tesla owners, and not a single one of them has acquired a CCS adapter. The Tesla supercharger network is everywhere...
When R1s start being delivered with built in NACS ports, do you think Rivian will include the CCS -> NACS adapter for free? Would be awkward if Rivians can't even charge at their own Rivian Adventure Network chargers without having to pay for an adapter.
Same exact thing happened to me this weekend. I'd only done that drive once or twice before, so I wasn't really sure what I should do(maybe there really was traffic on the highway, and the nav was trying to route me around it?). I made a last minute decision to stay on the highway and boy was...
I admittedly only quickly skimmed the presentation you linked, but I don't see anything about non-placard holders being able to use an ADA charging spot if all the other charging spots are taken. If that is in the presentation, can you please let me know what page it's on?
I think what some people miss is that for traditional dealerships ALL service work is revenue generating. It doesn't matter if it's warranty work or post-warranty work, the dealership is getting paid. For post-warranty work, the customer is paying(same as would be the case in a world where...
