No....Can't be a Canada thing. Located in GTA and received the update 4 days ago....I did the update remotely and have not used the vehicle since I am out of country travelling but got the notification that update was completed successfully.
I honestly think it may have been a network issue (locally)....it was out for about 3 hours and then just started to work. My wife was able to use the vehicle with no issues during outage but on my phone the app had a big red no connectivity symbol. Didn't really do anything on my end to fix it....
I live in Durham we have a few here - just in my neighborhood there is another one and as I drive between whitby, oshawa and Scarborough - I usually see a few. Starting to see more in the last 3 months....
When you are down to the crunch, also turning on conserve (for those that have it) will give you a few extra miles. I cut it to the 0% mark once also and made it home just fine. I think there is a few extra miles that it can run even after hitting the red (0%)
Still not simple and straightforward as an ICE vehicle. For e.g. when this happened to me I couldn't "pop the hood" like I could in an ICE vehicle. I know there is a manual release somewhere around the charging port....but agian my point is just that it is not as simpe as an ICE vehicle which...
They've placed the 2 12v batteries in hard to reach places...i.e. not easy as pop the hood and boost the 12v like an ICE vehicle. Poor design from my perspective
Yeah you may be right about all the focus being on the R2... however I feel like the design for r2 has been completed for sometime...so I am certain there is a R1 design team that is looking ahead...maybe it is 2027 then where they will have enough changes to entice a Gen1 owner to upgrade...

Trust me you are not missing much....I used alexa for a few times when we first got the rivian but for the last few months it is better to use "Hey google" for my anrdoid or siri if you use apple. Commands through alexa is cool (e.g. Alex, open the trunk) though
