Lack of availability hurts their marketshare more than pricing does. There are still giant chunks of canada where rivian flat out won't sell you a vehicle.
I can see it being sold via rivian as an accessory in the same way Kuat/Yakima racks are.
Especially since Rivian is clearly involved in prototyping it.
