It seems odd that Rivian would not name the R2 R2S if they were planning an R2T, unless they plan to give it its own distinct model name. But then again if they named it R2S, everyone would expect and ask about an R2T so maybe was strategic not to name the R2 R2S.

Content from OoS would be so much better if they actually spent some time on production/editing. There content drags and you can't really get all the clear data/info because of all the clutter and verbose brain dumps.
A few other interesting tidbits:
The same 8 colors that are available now (maybe Rivian will add another special color)
4 seat color options
4 wood trim options
Yeah, I remember this as well. Its a real bummer it hasn't come to fruition like they intended. I don't know if its because of the pandemic or they just didn't plan properly. Either way we didn't get what they said they would give.
A free hardware update would be nice but I don't expect that...
Cool investigation. Makes sense they kept Mobileye. I'm sure building an ADAS system from the ground up takes time and they needed to be able to sell Gen2 vehicles with some level of autonomy.
I'm sure they will start replacing the Mobileye functionality with their Autonomy Platform to the...
If comma.ai can do that level of self-driving on Gen1, why can't Rivian do that with its own equipment? Is it purely the camera quality thats limiting Rivian or I guess it's software as well? But wondering if its just because Rivian isn't investing in Gen1 Driver+.
This is not a good look for...
f#@k me
so they remove the PTC from our config when we ordered. they said it'll be available in the Gear Shop and will retrofit on existing R1Ts with the rails (ie. you either have the manual tonneau or old powered tonneau). and now its not backwards compatible? thanks Rivian.
very cool. love the wheels, new interior is nice and new tonneau looks much better. i think its a smart, easy move for them to try to bump sales. but overall, not a substantial announcement.
did they really have to build the hype for this? they should have just announced it without any lead...
wow. that looks like it runs so much smoother and faster. and not just new cover, thats the new California Dune edition. new exterior color, new interior, new wheels.
so are folks who didnt get their old powered tonneau cover replaced yet going to get this version?
I'd be shocked if Rivian adds that option based on its mission and everything RJ has said up till now. With Rivian, you'll likely need to wait for battery tech to improve or some type of efficiency breakthrough to get 400-500 miles of range with the current battery tech.
Scout might be an...
