  1. SLATE EV Truck Debuts! Convertible From Pickup to SUV. Starting Price Under $20K With Federal Incentive

For $20K, I'd definitely buy it. The bed is longer than a Rivian! It's 5", the length I've been advocating for. I would pay extra for a dual-motor version because winter hill performance is top of my list, but for a suburban utility vehicle this is pretty good. It doesn't need to seat more than...
  2. Aidan Gomez Joins Rivian’s Board of Directors, Bringing AI Expertise

Rivian will never lead in autonomous during. They don’t have the talent or the budget. The best they can do is partner with Waymo, Mobileye, or Volvo. Also, Cohere is nothing special. More distractions for Rivian.
  3. Newsweek Executive of the Year 2025: RJ Scaringe!

Rivian hasn't turned a profit. Creating a company which is almost completely a Tesla clone isn't exactly disruption.
  4. A Beautiful Disaster — Rivian Is Not Ready for Prime Time

My service center visits have been great: when I can get appointment, which is usually three months away. If I can schedule one at all. I’ve had three Rivians and all of them have been problematic. That’s enough experience to turn anecdotes into reasonably solid data. Rivian doesn’t know how to...
  5. Class-action lawsuit for long service wait times?

Once again I’m scheduling out three months for service. Is anyone aware of an existing class action lawsuit against Rivian for failure to honor warranty obligations in a timely manner? All the data is already discoverable in Rivian’s systems, it might be a slam dunk, assuming a law exists which...
  6. EV Play Preorder - Now Live (and working!)

Stupendous. I can’t stress enough what a great service you are doing the Rivian community! More power to you!
  7. So...do you have ire over undocumented changes?

@Kaiju your complaint is legitimate. Don’t get too ruffled by @Donald Stanfield ā€˜s behavior, member abuse is a common manifestation of cult indoctrination.
  8. Water and Fog in Charging Light Bar - R1S

Mine hasn’t evaporated for many days and it’s fairly sunny. Curious to see if it ever will.
  9. Go chime should go off only at controlled intersections

Yeah, that's what I just said in my post above: It definitely bears repeating. The car might tell you to ā€œgoā€ when it isn’t safe to go. Thanks, car! Now I know why no other manufacturer has this feature. Rivian could have named it better, too. I do get ā€œAutopilotā€ vibes here.
  10. Rivian buy back: what should my next vehicle be?

This could be. But on other hand, if the cars were reliable we also wouldn’t get these accounts. Surveys show Rivian quality is poor. I personally have had three and all three have had issues of one kind or another. Lots of them.
  11. Rivian buy back: what should my next vehicle be?

Wait for a Scout or buy the Hummer EV.
  12. Go chime should go off only at controlled intersections

Before today I was not a fan of the go chime, as I think it is unnecessary. But today a funny thing happened: I was in line to take a left out of a strip mall into a busy street. There was a car in front of me, but no stop light. The car went, and then my car chimed ā€œgo!ā€. So, I instinctively...
  13. EV Play Preorder - Now Live (and working!)

@EV Play - Alex This is amazing progress, and I can't wait buy a few units. Great work! I have some issues with other CarPlay head units: Some of them freak out if powered on but not connected to CarPlay for hours (the overnight charging scenario), requiring a reboot. My phone's constantly...
  14. Efficiency boost from 2025.10 update? Anyone else seeing this?

This is a useful feature, as one can now tell if regen is limited by cold when going downhill from a mountain when blended braking is turned on. I often drive my truck up high only to lose energy to the cold when driving back down due to regen turning off.
  15. RIVIAN Execs! Brakes stoped working in highway at over 76MPH

Yes, OP and everyone else, please keep posting publicly about these issues. Secrecy serves no one, and because Rivian has a monopoly on service, word may not get out as quickly (or at all) compared with an independent dealer performing service.
  16. Investing.com - Rivian CEO Robert Scaringe sells $803,576 in company stock

Every time RJ vests options, he exercises them. However, he always sells more than it costs to exercise and he also sells more than he needs to cover taxes on the vests. He uses the option exercises as a diversion to actually divest himself of Rivian stock. Which isn't bullish, but sometimes you...
  17. Revisiting the accuracy of Motor Intelligence sales figures

As you may recall, Motor Intelligence posted slow sales for Rivian in January, which was picked up by this thread: [LOCKED DUE TO INACCURATE FIGURES] Rivian U.S. Sales January 2025. Someone then claimed they had an "inside source" that these numbers were "inaccurate". At best, that's hearsay and...
  18. Tips for closing a powered tonneau that won’t close?

This afternoon I opened my powered tonneau, put some stuff in the bed, and pressed close. It went about a foot and then reversed itself. I dry lube the tracks regularly and, upon checking, found they were free of any debris. Yet, the failing continued. I thought perhaps the cover was...
  19. How can I remove PAAK and use the fob only? PAAK can F all the the way off

PAAK has never worked reliably for me, though usually all that’s needed is to wake my phone. Twice it has stopped working while I was driving, which was scary, but I was able to get back home and find the fob. I hate PAAK and it’s a symbol of the hubris, technofetishism, and failed execution of...
  20. 2025.06 Made PAAK amazing for me for my G1 R1T

It’s two failures in a row for me now. I don’t think PAAK will ever be reliable for me on my late model iPhone. I have to take out the phone and wake it up for the Rivian to unlock.
