Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

Thank you! I’ve been installing different branches via the ā€œCustom Softwareā€ button but it’s the pathname I’ve been unable to find.

Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

Great! Could you post where I can learn how to install OP-long? Trying to find that info on Discord is an exercise in frustration. Also, You posted on the other Rivian forum about Lukas’ new box. Could you post that info as well? TIA

Is there a way to preheat the battery and get regenerative braking before driving?

This has been a known problem for quite a while. Back in April 2023 @Cosmacelf postulated that its due to a design problem and the BMS can’t cool the battery quickly enough during regen. Regen Problem

Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

Hah! That’s pretty funny. I do have 2 concerns: 1) every time SP/mads-tesla-prebuilt powers up the yellow warning message pops up: ā€œThis branch is not testedā€. is that normal? 2) following a vehicle with ACC active I never see the yellow triangle as described in the instructions. is that...

Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

I reinstalled SP and it seems to be working properly — for now. šŸ¤ž I found the toggle for Cancel All when braking, but I never found a toggle for cancel speed and keep steering even tho I tried it and it does work. Also, what is Unified Engagement Mode (UEM)?

Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

I’ve had mixed results. Yesterday I was able to do a 12-mile round trip and things seemed to work just fine. Even tried MADS and that was fun — but like @Tatnai I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. :) Last night I played with some settings and then this morning I repeated the same loop...

Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

After driving with OpenPilot for a few days I decided to try SunnyPilot. I followed the instructions for uninstalling OpenPilot and installing SunnyPilot but after the reboot it would not recognize my dongle id. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

I recently added the Comma 3X wiring harness to my R1T and downloaded the stable version of OpenPilot and I believe my question is in line with this discussion. When towing a trailer Rivian still requires manual braking while in ACC. This behavior is the same with OpenPilot. Is there any...

Comma AI 3X in Central Oregon

Well I was able to install the Comma 3X wiring harness into my R1T despite my clumsy fingers and it only took 15 min. The rest of the install was easy and I’ve now have OpenPilot up and running.

Comma AI 3X in Central Oregon

Has anyone in the Bend area installed the Comma 3X hardware? I've been following the install instructions / video and just have no faith that I will be able to plug the multi pin connector back into the AXM. I guess my fingers are just too big & clumsy. Any local help/advice would be greatly...

How does Rivian do when removing rock sliders?

Twice a year I swap summer/winter tires by jacking up 1 entire side of my R1T (DM Max) using the DCE-Weistec rock sliders and have yet to have any sort of problem. They seem to be pretty rugged and I’ve not noticed any bending or flexing the of the sliders.

Tips for taking car on Amtrak auto train

Why keep it in your pocket? I keep my FOB in my truck all the time so that I have it if I need it. Just take the battery out.

Current Travel Trailers / RVs you're towing - Reviews and Recommendations!

I like your setup as well. Actually, I originally traded my Ram 1500 EcoDiesel for the R1T w/QM and LargePack and then a year later traded that in for the R1T w/DM and MaxPack. I don’t miss the extra power and the extra mileage was worth the trade. We have 2 Gazelle ebikes which weigh 62lbs...

    Gear Tunnel Confessionals

I believe it would be possible to remove the lids by pushing out the hinge pins. I left the lids on because there is about 7ā€ of space above the boxes that I will sometimes use to store long items like RV awning poles. I did remove the latches since I found no need to latch the lids closed.

Current Travel Trailers / RVs you're towing - Reviews and Recommendations!

We traded in our Ram EcoDiesel to tow our 27’ Flying Cloud with a DM R1T Max and haven’t ever looked back. It’s so much nicer towing with the R1T.

    Gear Tunnel Confessionals

Quite some time ago a poster on this forum suggested a toolbox from Home Depot: Dewalt Rolling Toolbox so I picked up a pair and they are a perfect fit. Easy to roll in and roll out and I can pack all of my RV equipment in them as well as tire charging and bicycle tools. The fold down doors...

2023 R1T Quad, trip down the Oregon Coast Towing Airstream Basecamp

Fellow RV’er here and we towed our 27’ Flying Cloud from Bend to Temecula and back this winter and can confirm the 1.1 mi/kwh @ 65 mph but that would drop to 1.0 @ 70 mph. I expect we could achieve 1.3 if we stayed under 55 mph. 😊 We plan on ā€œcoastingā€ this summer to many of the Oregon State...
