What am I doing wrong here? Do Rivian's Gen 2 Active Matrix LED headlights, long a press darling, really only have 8 pixels or so per side? I thought Audi, Mercedes and others have millions of pixels. This is 16 bit lighting in an era of 5K.
This is in my driveway where I have bright LED's behind me but even so the light from the front light bar and stadium lights ends up casting shadows in the charge port making it tricky to align a charging cable. This probably goes away with a NACS port, but is an unexpected PITA.
My 2025 Rivian R1S came with the drawer (#winning) and I picked up a camp speaker on a certain auction site. When I had my spare tire installed two Rivian service techs could not figure out how to release the drawer. Not sure if this came in a recent software release, but unlocking the drawer...
With warmer weather descending upon NJ I took the opportunity to get in a quick wash, blow dry, and ceramic coating with my favorite of the last four years - Turtle Wax Ceramic Coating (https://amzn.to/3Gl7VG0). Hard to see the metallic flake from a distance, but it really does sparkle under...
Took a 70 mile trip today, charged up to 85% then pre-conditioned for 30+ minutes on a Level 2 before heading off. Flat terrain, 22" Sport Brights, 50-51psi all around, <1,000 miles on the vehicle, All Purpose in either Low or Standard ride height (shifted to Low halfway through), 50-55 degrees...
The second Gen Rivian R1 has configurable accent lighting (hurray) but the choices are limited to a narrow selection of pre-configured colors. As I hadn't found another resource I thought I'd take a 4K video at night to show what these options look like at varying levels of brightness...
Okay, I broke down and purchased the R1 front sunshade from the Gear Shop before spring and summer set in across the Northeast. I do what I can do keep cool with the Ocean Coast interior and Dynamic Roof but the black exterior does me no favors when the sun is beating down 12 hours a day. So...
I like to keep the interiors (and exteriors) of my vehicles clean so shortly after taking delivery of this 2025 R1S Dual Large we got to seeking out a set of all-weather mats to get us through the rest of a snowy and mucky NJ winter. I've had varying degrees of success with Weathertech and Kagu...
Not compensated, not sponsored and I purchased my own vehicle and TWRAPS charging mat. Looks like there are some changes to the charging mat in Gen 2 beyond the ridge. Worth a look/see if you're considering purchasing an R1S/T as it's tough to absorb everything in quick demo drive (if one is...
I hadn't found a good video and with the new Gen 2's and updated UI figured I'd take a live walkthrough of installing an external drive and configuring for Gear Guard and Road Cam so people can see how long it takes and what to expect at each step of the process. Consider throwing up a Like on...
I only found the dynamic glass roof option presented in passing in other YouTube reviews and since I just took delivery of a 2025 Rivian R1S with this option I figured I'd make a quick video to pay it forward for others considering this option. Takeaway: it's better than I thought it would be...
I've been on this forum for nearly two years, placed a pre-order even earlier - Sept 2022 - and am looking forward to taking delivery of a R1S Dual Large tomorrow. Was trying to hold out as long as possible for the NACS port but here I am. It seems newer vehicles are not eligible for "free"...

I called for Rivian to make a two-row, rear-wheel drive R1S and get it out for under $70K to start moving units and help with fixed cost coverage. They may not make it to the R2 launch in 2026 otherwise and while getting a helping hand...
I've searched on here and it sounds like a few folks may have owned (or still own) a Hummer SUT or SUV but I haven't been able to find anyone write up a good comparison - at least via site search. On the YouTube most "tests" seem to be drag races, which isn't really my cup of use cases. Really...
With the covers off of R2 and R3, there is about 24 months of calendar to fill before R2 begins to roll off the lines in Normal. Between here and there Rivian needs to maintain momentum, and I'm thinking a lot of the tapdance will be around rationing news morsels to feed the investor and...
Not going to say I said they needed to do this, and accelerate the launch timing, but they are planning on both.
Kudos to RJ and team, that's how to get it done.
Wait, what? The leaked specs on R2 are awesome (I agree).
Here's the rub.
I suspect many prospective buyers in the R1 pipeline really don't want to pay $75-100K for either a tiny truck bed or a third-row that they will never use. Others may be urban dwellers and as facile as the R1 is, it's...
Well, burning $1.5+B in cash a quarter won't work. I've worked with many distressed businesses, including high-growth startups, that begin to run into cash crunches - sometimes they miss estimates of demand at a price point, sometimes it's a lack of attention to detail on the cost side, other...
