I just drove two round trips to Normal, IL today. Used hands free for about 1/3rd of the trip. It is ok (I'm probably a better driver using it), but I don't see this stuff being worth the $$$. Until I can drink 5 beers, get the in the car & say "home" legally it doesn't mean much to me. And I...
There probably has been five of these threads. After owning two gen 1 R1T QM I upgraded to the Tri. I don't regret it at all. I travel quite a bit (35-40,000 miles annually) and the 10-15 percent improved efficiency is worth it to me. I was on 20s and went to the range wheels so range...
Kind of like Rivian! I've owned one Range Rover Sport and absolutely loved it. I never gad any problems at all over 75,000 miles in two years. My three R1Ts on the other hand (which I also love) have had so many SC trips I can't count them. The big difference is RR interiors are much moe...
Tom's youtube vid on State of Charge with Walmart was interesting. Gives hope of some decent pricing, but as the guy notes electricity rules/regulations vary by state and community so having national pricing is difficult. If you go that route everyone pays the highest price nationally so nobody...
I live about 45 mins from Normal and get there at least once a week. The expansion has been massive. Because of Rivian QC issues I go to the plant to frequently....lol. I've never understood how they expanded so much square footage, but not production capacity. Not that they have needed it, but...
There are so many variables to efficiency/range that no two people are going to get the same number. For daily driving it doesn't matter and on a road trip availability of DCFC and speed is what matters.
The Gen 1 quad has a useable pack of 131 kw (I think). The Tri is 141. I was always in conserve mode on the highway, but never anywhere else. That is the other advantage on the Tri. You CAN drive in conserve all the time if you want without destroying your tires because upon acceleration all...
I made the same upgrade to Tri Max R1T and don't regret it. Much better overall vehicle for my use. Wind noise is comparable to our BMW X5, efficiency is 10 percent better and battery pack is a little larger. I drove 355 miles interstate driving (cruise set at 74) mostly hands free, and pulled...
I've now owned 35 vehicles in my life and one stands above the others. I would buy a Range Rover Sport SUV over again. I will stay EV, but doubt I go for an R1T again. On my third one, and the constant issues get old. I put an order in for a Scout pickup. I need a pickup if at all possible and...
Not sure why cameras would need adjusted after a wheel alignment. Most tire shops recommend an alignment if you get new tires. If you have a Plaza Tire store near you they might do it. In Peoria they will. Have the same Hunter brand machine Rivian uses in Normal.
I can tell you it is true. I live 40 minutes from the Normal plant. A Rivian engineer and an HR employee live in my subdivision. I got this info from a golf buddy's son who works on the floor (lives in Morton, IL). I can tell you how they feel. Scared.
Talked to a Rivian assembly line employee yesterday. He said they are only working 2-3 days a week until inventory comes down. Not surprising, but not good to hear. Hopefully they can limp along until R2 production can get started.
This. IMO, once you can consistently get 300 plus miles on a full charge improving battery technology around DCFC speeds is the bigger issue. I don't mind stopping every four hrs to refuel, but don't want to be there 40-60 minutes refueling to 100 percent.
I have that same set up on in the truck. If you believe RJ (hmmm ??) there is no reason not to drive mostly in conserve. It won't wear uneven on your tires because all motors engage when you take off from a stop or accelerate. I had two QM prior to this Tri and, IMO, there is no comparison. I'm...
Some Circle K stores have DCFC (usually 180kw) and they never show up either. Some of it is branding and some of it is just staying ahead of the additions.
Yea, but Trump bought a Tesla this morning and Hannity already bought his S Plaid. Could be big day for EVs. Plus, evidently, it's illegal to not buy one. ????
JMO, but discounted charging should be part of the monthly/annual subscription. At 60 cnts/kw they are giving $$ to Tesla. Where we vaca in FL tesla is 36/cnts. Panhandle. I would prefer not give Elon a damn dime, but not paying a 75 percent premium for RAN.
BTW, I earlier said the brakes had their warranty reduced because I couldn't correctly remember. It was the 12 volt batter that now has a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. At least that is what the Rivian tech (had a mobile service call) told me yesterday.
