2026 Subaru Trailseeker EV Reveal, the poor mans Rivian?

I always call my R1S, our Fancy Subaru, My wife has an outback (sorry ladies, she is straight:D) Subaru just introduced the follow-up to their (really Toyota's) flop of an EV, the Solterra. This could be direct competitor to the R2. It;s more of a wagon / outback sized, but noted that...

"The Straight Pipes" guys hammer the R1S (Gen 2) for 30 minutes straight

While these guys aren't the most EV friendly reviewers, a lot driven by how bad the charging infostructure is in North America, they really beat-up on the drivability of the R1S tri motor in this review. They make some fair points, but overall they didn't enjoy it. Yuri was getting motion...

Update 2025.06 on a Dual Motor w/ Performance Package purchased & unlocked.

For those curious as to what visual changes update 2025.06 brings to the dual motor when you have the performance pack unlocked, here's a video. I like that the layout is more consistent with quad and Tri. Spoiler alert, my recommendation is save the $5K and skip adding the performance. I...

Possible DIY for road noise reduction (Gen 1)

Quick video of a few DYI steps to help reduce road noise in the Gen 1 vehicles. I've personally never been bothered by it but I know others bring it up as a point of contention and it may really come down to which tires you have on it. The 20's AT are much noisier than the 22s that I have...

My one complaint for Gen 1.5+ Power in front row.

The true Gen 1 is quad motor, large , meridian audio etc... I have what I call a Gen 1.5. Gen 1.5 is around when they started removing unnecessary cost adders, and introduced the in house dual motor. Mine is Dual Motor Performance Standard+ There should really be 1 power outlet either...

Turning on HVAC to protect screens, inconsistently.

Why do I sometimes get a notification that reads "turning on HVAC to protect screens" but other days like today the cabin was 140f?

Gen 2 Standard > Large battery pack.

Why is Rivian so secretive about the new 'large' pack? Why even offer a 'large' battery at all? If the standard (LFP) gets 270miles , can be charged to 100% daily and likely fast charges faster. The large is about 265miles charging to the recommended 80% daily and likely fast charging...

What are people running for Kayak holders?

The 2 different sets (8 total) I have don't fit, and the yakima jaylow are stupid priced. The OEM crossbars are too wide or too thick for the ones I have. I have a decent generic/universal set and the Thule hull-a-port XT, neither fit. Any suggestions? Or should I just strap direct to the...
