Came across this in a social media feed. I know the "ultra-luxury" SUV market is not Rivian's playground. But watching the overview makes one appreciate what the Chinese automakers can produce - and wonder what might emerge for an offroad focused adventure Truck/SUV EV, esp. with a small...
Short vid clip in first post shows a spot clearly reworked with sander polisher - not good for a āshowpieceā truck.
Driverās side had a visible dent or buckle hard to image. Above forward corner or wheel arch along the chine. Hereās vid clip of it
You're pretty much on-point. I am a "tow-er." I have a 6,000 lb adventure trailer. Towed it over 3,000 miles so far. It's not just the range hit - which is HUGE - but also the disruptions and extra time it takes to find and charge-up at L3's. Future use of Supercharger stations will...
i already had (without knowing it) since prior reservations for RAM-BEV allow a choice of the full-EV or this Hybrid. Iām selecting the RamCharger hybrid.
I struggle with all the EV-purists that seem oblivious to the obvious. A setup like the Ramcharger will be a full-time EV for every day that its driven below 100 miles or so, as long as the owner can recharge it on L2 daily (or every couple of days depending on daily distance). Ask yourself...
I've towed my 6,000 lb travel trailer enough with my R1S to be very interested in this solution. When you equate 1 mile of range to 1% of battery charge (real life) the whole "range anxiety thing" becomes a valid concern.
I have an early SEV reservation and will very likely pull-the-trigger when offered the chance. I know it won't have the luxury of the Rivian (since I'm getting the WT, not the RST). Really want that extra capacity for towing the adventure trailer. Did a long-haul with the R1S and while it can...
Pulled into EA charging station in Baker, CA and saw signs of a MFG test mule. Driver confirmed itās a Kia EV9. Sized about 80% of an R1S. Looks much like a 120% version of EV5.
First impression: Meh. ?
It lacked 3rd row bench but can tell with it maybe 12-15ā behind to rear hatch. Styling...
Nope. Completely new from ground up. Drums are gone, leafs are gone (except base), and pretty much everything "old" is gone. Including the neutral good looks.
My curiosity will be more focused on what kind of TOWING Range that big-ass battery will offer. If this truck can pull say 7,500 lb aero-trailer a good 250+ miles then finally there's a legit EV option for cross-country adventuring.
Saw this news post of a sighting in the wild, surprisingly undisguised.
Looks pretty good honestly for what it is... an urban family hauler.
2024 Kia EV9 possible public sighting as nearly an exact clone of the electric SUV concept (electrek.co)
