Rivian for a while told me that only vehicles within a certain VIN range were affected by the "bad batch of batteries." I've had my vehicle in for various issues and they told me nope your vehicle isn't on the battery VIN range. Then last week I got the 12V warning (red icon instead of yellow)...
I wonder if it’s an issue with the hvac system. The battery has a cooling plate which when oversaturated and unable to cool further will trigger reduced charging currents. The fact you are able to initially charge and then it stops implies a potential cooling system failure.
Update - got the car back after one day. They found a screw stuck on the seat rail. Removed it and did the calibration and everything checks out. I asked where the screw came from - service manager thought it was left over from a prior service.
In the end, just happy to get the car back...
When the calibration failed, it erased the saved seat, mirror and steering wheel settings for both my profile and my wife’s profile.
Yes dropped it off at Costa Mesa and they were very kind to accommodate the same day appointment. Will keep you all posted.
Update. Was able to talk to Rivian on the phone and arranged to drop it off at Costa Mesa today. Their service is really improving and I’ll keep everyone updated on what they find with the mysterious stuck seat.
Checked the ride menu and it gives an option for full mechanical calibration including the charge door and windows in addition to both front seats and steering wheel. It’s all or nothing. I decided not to try it since with my luck one of the windows will be stuck not being able to fully roll up.
Yeah no cords amiss. The motors all work. The seat lifts up and down. The seat moves forwards and backwards. Backrest tilts forwards and backwards.
The issue as illustrated in the picture is that it can’t move to the last 3-4” of track. So the seat is stuck in a forward position, and my knees...
Yeah this is quite a disaster. It’s drivable but I’m sitting uncomfortably close to the wheel and my legs are all crammed in there making one pedal driving awkward. How Rivian could even let this happen (seat cannot move full range even if memory is not set) is beyond me. It’s a safety hazard.
Noticed the steering wheel losing its range of tilt up again and progressive it’s dipping to cover the screen. So decided today why not let’s calibrate the steering wheel and drivers seat since both need to be done to set a new memory position. Well, bad idea. The drivers seat calibration...
If the vehicle is not drivable or has a serious issue, they will literally tow you on the same day you report it. The longer wait times are for less urgent issues, and as they build more centers, it has been improving. SoCal was once a total disaster but now they are getting vehicles in and...
Without vacuum and electric assist it will just be a rock hard pedal that doesn’t go down that much. So I think you still had manual brakes but that was literally all it could give you no matter how hard you stepped on it. On a gas vehicle if you step on the brake with the engine off, the first...
The Rivian still uses hydraulic brakes like any other vehicle. Sounds like an electrical failure and you lost vacuum/electric brake boost, but still had "manual brakes" which would be very hard to stop the vehicle with, especially with a trailer. A complete loss of brakes (i.e. no hydraulic...
I’ve noticed this too. It blows full blast for ten seconds after the vehicle has been parked for a minute or two.
At first I thought it was the air suspension air tank but I was grabbing something out of the back and heard it was definitely the hvac unit. Glad to know it’s happening to others...
I get the warning every so often but it is not consistent. If it is happening every single time you have the vehicle in reverse, I'd try doing both a soft and hard reset first to see if that corrects it.
