More for the mixer - my lift gate sometimes will not latch, even when the tailgate is fully closed. Push button to close liftgate, it descends normally, sits for about 20-30 seconds in a nearly fully down position and then may or may not go back up (it has done both). After I found the truck...
Pretend I’m a giant baby and explain. Is the “range” left just a function of the percentage of the charge remaining multiplied by the theoretical max range? And then my driving “range impact” has positive or negative effect? Or is the “range” left calculated based on battery charge and some...
Nice try, but they aren’t covering the break. So not relevant. I would agree that regen provides an advantage in cases where you are NOT covering the break. My original point was just that the regen doesn’t allow you to cover the break which I like to do as research has shown it helps avoid...
It’s all scenarios. Covering the break eliminates two physiological reactions and their associated time without breaking. I’d estimate 1/2 second. You cannot do it in a Rivian. If you lift, regen kicks in and “brakes.”
Covering the break is about decreasing the lag associated with the physiology of stopping the vehicle - I.e. moving your foot. Research shows it averages 3/4 of a second. It involves removing foot from accelerator, moving foot over to brake, and applying break. Covering the break eliminates...
Not to mention with the weight of EVs they decelerate very slowly. If you lift in our e-Tron S it coasts forever at exactly the same speed. It’s like trying to stop a train. No question one pedal driving is not the same as covering the break.
It is not the same at all. The whole point is having your foot physically over the brake to eliminate the reaction time without braking unnecessarily. This is impossible in the Rivian currently.
Thanks. I have used the pet mode, but it’s a pain to have to remember to do it. An on/off button like there’s always been is easier. May try removing phone as a key and leaving the FOB in the car. Maybe that will work.
I would have preferred a non-air suspension and desperately need an on-off solution. With dogs and kids and the associated loading, unloading, and shuffling, I am constantly opening and closing doors and the truck is constantly turning on and off. It’s a huge pain. I haven’t figured out a way...
Consumer reports disagrees with you. “In spite of the potential safety hazard presented by the failure of brake lights to illuminate during one-pedal driving, the U.S. government doesn’t have an explicit standard regarding deceleration levels for activating brake lights.” And the National...
You are wrong. That is not covering the break. Covering the brake means having your foot off the gas and hovering over the brake pedal. You cannot do this in a Rivian as it has no coast setting. And I was correcting someone who said all EVs turn on break lights with regen. They don’t. It’s...
“Enough” being the operative word there. Vehicles can slow down significantly without break lights coming on. Also, if person lifts hard and the pushes more it will still be regen but less and turns off the break lights in some vehicles. It’s a known issue. You can read up on it.
I bought a new mustang when I was 20. A week after I bought it, a bird flew in the driver’s side window at 80 mph and liquified on the inside of the rear window covering the entirety of the head liner, top of the seats and the windows in feathers and blood. Then I was pulled over by a cop in...
