  1. Mystery key

Fun fact - these are standard Yakima keys. You can order the Adventure Key Set to re-key all your crossbars and any Yakima gear (ski racks, bike locks, etc.) to match the same key so you only have to carry one. (Or if you're me, so you only have to carry three copies of one in various backup...
  2. Autosocks experience & towing in the snow

I used snow mode primarily for the reduced regen. Really glad they now allow it to be combined with towing.
  3. Autosocks experience & towing in the snow

I think 2 on the rear is the recommendation and should be fine for anything but some truly extreme stuff. I initially bought two pairs just anticipating one wearing out an an inopportune time, and only used them both becaues I had the trailer and no traction devices for it.
  4. What Jack are you Packin?

I've got the Pro Eagle Kratos off-road jack with the Rivian adapter and jack lock. I store it on the Range Industries gear tunnel slide (stores flat with the wheels removed). Pictured here (the remaining bags are my tool kit, recovery gear, tow straps, and towing/hauling bag w/ hitch balls...
  5. Software Update 2023.50 -- Scheduled battery preconditioning & other useful improvements!

I'll be interested in the blending braking implementation. Hopefully it *doesn't* trigger trailer brakes; towing with my Model Y (especially at low speeds) was a nightmare because the trailer kept braking every time brakes blended in during low speed regen. I think this was due to a third-party...
  6. Performance Dual vs Quad - Acceleration, NVH and other differences?

Drift is fun. Stupid amounts of fun. But (at least for me) you'll almost never get to safely use it unless you have access to a dirt track somewhere.
  7. Performance Dual vs Quad - Acceleration, NVH and other differences?

I'll put it this way: I'm so unconcerned about the "other than battery pack" differences for the perf dual max pack that I'd trade you straight for my quad if you don't like it.
  8. CarPlay & Android Auto Smart Dash Screen has arrived! New from EVSportline.com

Unfortunately the key fob seems to trigger it too (I don't use phone key but am not willing to give up the fob). This wasn't my experience. Whether I press once to sleep the display or hold if off and fully shut the display down, it will turn back on as soon as the car does a sleep/wake cycle.
  9. Autosocks experience & towing in the snow

In severe conditions they require traction devices for any vehicle towing or over 10,000 GVWR, regardless of tires or AWD/4WD.
  10. CarPlay & Android Auto Smart Dash Screen has arrived! New from EVSportline.com

The brightness was a little annoying but not a deal breaker. There are settings for screen brightness and you can set it automatically on a timer (it's just a time of day to adjust brightness each direction, but it's better than nothing). The dim setting (combined with CarPlay in Dark Mode) was...
  11. Autosocks experience & towing in the snow

Definitely seems like they're good for multiple uses. I'm sure they're a consumable but not in one go, at least in my experience so far. I haven't had any trouble but I've only used them a couple times (once on the R1T and long ago on an older car.)
  12. Autosocks experience & towing in the snow

Traction devices were required for anyone over 10,000 or with a trailer, otherwise I would have been ok with just the snow tires.
  13. Autosocks experience & towing in the snow

I didn't see any guidance to air down in the instructions, and haven't done so myself. I'm sure you could and plausibly see at least some combined benefit, but I'm not sure how much of one. I certainly didn't see a need to air down. I'll likely stick to AutoSocks when there's a chain...
  14. CarPlay & Android Auto Smart Dash Screen has arrived! New from EVSportline.com

I gave this a good try over a few hundred miles last weekend. It was nice to have a separate media/nav display when I was towing so I could leave the tow mode/dashboard view up, but ultimately it was just too much going on and I decided it's not for me. I was also finding that more often than...
  15. Autosocks experience & towing in the snow

There were plenty of bare spots with the patented Central Oregon lava rock sprayed absolutely everywhere, they seemed to hold out OK. Certainly not torn up within five miles. I wouldn't run them longer then necessary, but I think the key is to keep is slow and steady and add them as late/remove...
  16. Autosocks experience & towing in the snow

I got to (had to) try out my AutoSocks for the first time coming over Santiam Pass on Saturday, towing a 20ft trailer. A few folks have asked about it so I figured I'd share a very brief report. For those who aren't aware, Rivian recommends against using chains or cables on the 20" wheels due...
  17. Wind depresses hood

Are folks seeing this year-round or just in the winter? It might be seasonal depression. (I'll see myself out...)
  18. What Do You Keep In Your Rivian for Recovery?

  19. NACS Adapter Rolling Out “Next Summer” and 1,000V RANs?

Lectron is already taking preorders for (alleged) January delivery of a Rivian-compatible NACS adapter, so I'm optimistic that we'll be able to charge sooner rather than later.
