To each their own on road tripping an EV / Rivian. Personally, I love it. The forced time with eyes off the road is nice and allows me to cover more miles and the highway assist (when it works) is a game changer for covering big miles. The when it works part is simply because it is a mapped...
Glad Rivian included rear fog lights on our vehicles.
Blew my mind how many folks I saw blasting their high beams and binding themselves and everyone around them as well as some that only had their DRLs on even at night, meaning they had no rear lights on at all. Just unbelievable.
Don't think this ever showed up on the Coming Soon list, but the RAN map currently shows a site in Del Norte, CO as being online along with the Flagler site (Diner on I-70) that we did know about.
Happened to me this past Sunday. Was leaving on a trip and tried setting it to 100% and was glad I accidentally looked because it didn't take and stayed at my default 70% for some reason. Tried again and it took and charged as expected.
Because the trucks lack satellite hardware. But that's kind of inexcusable for an adventure vehicle that some of us semi-frequently take to areas without cell service.
That will absolutely bend the frame in an impact. Being in NYC, doesn't having something like that on your bumper just invite people to use it as a feeler gauge when parking?
The motors on the G1 QM are actually all identical. The difference is that the front motors are geared slightly taller and the rear shorter, though the Munro video didn't give numbers that I remember. But this is one reason the axle disconnects are on the rear motors...taller gearing is better...
It's streaming, but apparently SXM is being a dick and trying to treat it like an actual satellite receiver instead of internet only (there's no hardware in the truck). It's a money play and that alone makes me never want to use it. I might've gone for it if it was satellite since I'm...
I sincerely hope that number is wrong. If it is correct, then holy hell we need to educate folks about charging. Very, very few cars take anywhere near that long to charge even 10-80%. My average charging stop in the Rivian, a relatively slow charging vehicle that's also inefficient, is...
At least yours doesn't do this all day...constantly wake/sleep on short duration because the phone is apparently too close, despite being 50+ feet away in a garage through several walls. In my case, this behavior started after one of the software updates that claimed to enhance the PaaK...
Except that it's not satellite...it's just another streaming service. The one and only use I had for XM was to get music in places where cell service doesn't exist, and that doesn't work in the Rivian because they didn't bother including the hardware for it.
FWIW, my truck has done the one-wipe thing since I got it, so I always left auto wipers off until it started raining. My rain sensor separated from the windshield a couple months ago and stopped working all together. I finally got it replaced last week and it hasn't done the "courtesy wipe" a...
Interesting, but I'll assume it's for endurance over full-power everywhere. Run the same data for 0-50 and you'll almost certainly find the opposite since Rivian (via an interview with RJ) claimed 20% more torque in Sport mode and you definitely feel it with the butt dyno. Sport mode also...
Whatever you go with, definitely buy used. The resale value tanks quickly and RTTs are quite expensive new, as you're likely well aware. But if you go used, make sure you at least open/setup the tent to ensure it's in good condition, no tears/holes, no mold and not musty, etc.
This is why I won't snow-wheel the Rivian. I've honestly never cared for snow wheeling even in my 4Runner since it often turned into a winch fest anyway, but this truck is substantially heavier and the quad-motor has a tendency to kick the rear out as if you had a locked diff since all four...
No. This site opened in May 2024 and you can see from the photos on PlugShare that this was a clean dirt start.

The Tesla station is about 2 blocks away at a grocery store.

Put me in the camp that *DOES NOT* want a sharper throttle mapping. Something close to linear still gives you all the power when you want it, but gives you far finer control over throttle inputs. If it's too sharp, you lose all that fine fidelity and the vehicle becomes much harder to control...
Don't drive around in high...problem solved. This isn't a problem and it wasn't designed for it...partially why speed is limited to 45 mph and you don't get full power anyway. Drive in standard height, as intended. You don't get full power unless in Sport and lowest ride height.
