Yeah...don't do this. With the suspension in high the CV angles are not optimized for power delivery. There's a reason you only get full power in Sport mode with suspension in its lowest setting.
TL;DR, person never read the manual and didn't know about the manual release that *all* vehicles with electronic door latches are required to have. Even the C6 Corvette back in the 2000s, which may have been one of the first vehicles with electronic door latches, had a manual release for both...
Honestly, for wintertime driving your best bet is probably to just delay charging until it would finish shortly before your need to leave, assuming a predictable schedule. I really wish Rivian would add a charging for departure time option...my MINI Cooper SE had it and it was fantastic. The...
It takes *far* longer than 5-10 minutes to precondition the battery, but depends on the temp you started at. Rivian's strategy (or hardware limitation) appears to start preconditioning upwards of an hour out from a charger. That's the same whether it needs to heat or cool the battery...but the...
Someone sure has an axe to grind for some reason. With the old outdoor package with RUS and 20" all-terrain tires I've had much better efficiency than 2 mi/kWh. Is it worse than that at 80 mph in the middle of winter, of course...but so is ICE efficiency in the cold and with varying road...
It's not intuitive, but it's gotten a lot better of the years. 100% ABRP is the best EV road trip planner available outside of a vehicle...and much of Rivian's planner is based on ABRP now. ABRP is far more powerful and learning some of its nuances would be quite useful, like changing...
Once again, I'm even a CR subscriber and haven't gotten the car survey in over a decade. So I have no clue who the hell they're surveying, but this Rivian owner sure wasn't asked about their experience. Take their car stuff with a *large* grain of salt, because they suck at reviewing cars.
I'd still love to know who they're even surveying on this. I'm an online subscriber and used to get the car survey, but haven't received it in well over a decade now. So they sure don't have this owner's opinions represented.
Technically the SMS capability *does* make it worse since it's apparently not difficult to play man in the middle games, get a duplicate/replacement SIM, or spoof a a phone number to the effect that someone else could receive the SMS without you even knowing it was requested in the first place...
We have two main sites, one is an old airport parking ramp and speeds are much lower while the other is an old NASCAR oval track with an infield road course. There are portions of the oval/infield where it's hard to put any elements to slow folks down a lot and 70 was pretty easy to hit if you...
I've certainly hit 80 or so in my former Corvette, but that was very rare where topping out at 70 was more common. Powerful cars are fun for autoX, but still more fun if you can actually pull greater than 1G, which big/heavy vehicles won't, though tires are certainly a limiting factor for...
Exactly. If they're actually serious (which I doubt) about increasing American manufacturing capacity they really can't be against supporting a domestic auto plant's construction.
There is no autoX on earth where you need a raised top speed and for that matter, literally no one will be autocrossing a Rivian...at least until the R3 comes out. Now road course and drag strip would be nice, but you're never going to get this except in some geofenced mode. G2 tri/quad get a...
Tried it...doesn't work. Big, flat surfaces and insufficient heat generated by any of them to keep the snow from accumulating. It's the most annoying when there is snow lying, but *not* accumulating on the road...only on the truck. So then you still can't use ACC even though the road is clear...
