At this point would it not make sense that the Quad is released as a 2026 model? Assuming they release the 2026 models sometime late Spring to Summer, a release of a 2025 Quad in March would make it a very short lived model.
On Gen 1 models only Quads have the yellow break calipers. The CarMax listing I posted advertises a Dual Standard but the yellow break calipers (along with a vin check) prove it’s actually a Quad. They’re only asking $64K which would make sense for a Dual, but it’s almost $10K less than what a...
I noticed no difference in engine noise between Gen 1 and Gen 2. I thought the enduro motors would sound different but could hardly tell.
I think we have enough data now to definitively conclude that the Gen 2 range “improvements” had more to do with different testing procedures and fudging...
This is a steal, very late 2023 Quad R1S with dark wheels for $64K!

listing says dual but has yellow brake calipers…take advantage of their pricing error!
I’d go Gen 1 used. I bought a 2023 R1S Quad last year with 350mi for $73K and it’s great! Totally flawless….i demo’d a 2025 Dual recently and it largely felt like the same car but with less power and better cameras. Ride quality was the same (late 2023/24 Quads have most of the Gen 2 suspension...
I’ve never owned a Tesla but rented a 2023 Model 3 last week. After driving a Quad for almost 6 months, the Tesla mostly seemed like a massive downgrade.
Interior felt very cheap, with chintzy “wood” trim and crummy steering wheel. Rivian feels so much more refined and aesthetically pleasing...
yes, according to the Rivian parts system you received the very latest front air springs and rear air springs which are now a revision or two earlier than the very current ones.
However, I think it’s the rear dampers that make the most difference in ride quality. Since you own a very late 2023...
@Riviot was kind enough to look up all the suspension related parts #s in the Rivian system, so now we have a definitive list of what changed and when:
Front Dampers
2022 R1S Launch Edition (vin 02xxx)
Right: C200055320-A
Left: C200055318-A
(These are unconfirmed #s, the Rivian parts system...
The 2025 Dual I demo’d had an absolutely deafening heat pump. It was so loud I could barely hear the sound system. I had heard there was a fix so glad they are successfully performing it for people with that issue.
I’d like to see a more detailed analysis of your upgrade costs here. Gen 2 is so much more expensive, I’ve never come across a scenario where upgrading could come even close to a wash with even the most aggressive incentives from Rivian. I suppose you have a fairly high interest loan or lease...
since I’ve never had a car with blind spot cameras, it already seems cutting edge to me. Like you said, there’s still plenty enough resolution to make out a vehicle in your blind spot regardless of how blurry and distorted the image quality is.
interesting, I was wondering if they ever did a rolling upgrade of the cameras. My Quad (23/vin 18xxx) has actually pretty decent resolution on the front/back cameras. It’s the blind spot cams that are terrible.
