they're smart enough to know that this is Tesla's "moat" in the EV world right now. I'm excited that they're going up 95 through Maine all the way to the border (while also opening up Baxter State Park/Katahdin), and also Rt 9 to New Brunswick.
Just need one in that Central VA black hole...
Right now, technically, Amazon is a partial owner of this private entity.
I'm sure the rules governing that are different, and will change based on Amazon and Rivian's relationship in the future.
There's precedent when the Feds sued Microsoft about including their browser with windows machines, but it would be a big leap to argue that car OEMs need to open their platforms to third parties.
If it was going to happen, all of the Tesla owners who have been asking for Android Auto or...
That's what we use now in the X. He's got a Fire tablet and the headrest mount. At least he's still rear-facing, so that CocoMelon isn't right in my ear.....

It appears that some of the 2022 Jeeps will have integrated Fire TV with screens. Considering the R1S will have 4G, I wonder if this is a viable option down the road.
Not a huge deal, now that most of the...
Same, I'm moving from MA to ME next month, and it's currently 3F with a wind chill of -20F at the place in Maine. I already know how my X would do today (passable, but not impressive), I'm hopeful for a little more efficiency in the R1S.
I'm thinking that the range remaining is dynamically adjusting based on the driving. And thrashing it at 96 miles an hour over snow and ice probably has more to do with the remaining range than the ambient temperature.
judging by the fact they specifically mention 350kW chargers twice, I'm guessing it's an average, probably with a similar curve to Tesla's (high rate <50%, tapering every 10% after that).
Quote from the article.
The 800v battery supports superfast charging too, with the Ioniq 5 able to reclaim...
Not DIRECTLY Rivian related, but I find it interesting that Hyundai is claiming 10%-80% SoC in 18 minutes on a 350kW stall with the 800v architecture for their new Ioniq. Granted, it's for a smaller battery, but still impressive. I suppose for the 180kWh pack, it would all depend on how long the...
I don't think it's artificial sound. I think it's a combination of tires on snow and ice, and wind. If you listen closely, you CAN hear the slight electric whine when he puts a little foot into it.
From my own experience when driving "spiritedly" either in Drift Mode or at the Drag Strip, I tend to sit a little closer, rather than my leaning back "cruise mode".
